I'm now through 39 episodes of Kamen Rider Ryuki, and I don't think I've talked enough about Ren. Which is an oversight on my part, because he's one of my favorites. (This may be partially because of his really nice cheekbones 😅)

If Shinji is an oversized puppy who keeps accidentally breaking things, then Ren is like a cat who keeps somehow falling into water. Can he catch a break? No! He's just perpetually broody because he can't advance in the Rider fight, can't bring himself to kill anyone, and can't explain to Eri what he's done for her. He's holding a lot of guilt (which may or may not be justified).

Give this poor wet cat several hugs, please.

(Although Ren would surely hate all the hugs too 😂)

I've been trying to think of the best way to describe Kanzaki Shiro. Mostly because he's so creepy that I laugh every time he appears.

Like, I know he's probably supposed to be intimidating. But he just looks like that one weird guy you probably knew in high school.

And other than that description, the only other thing I could think of is that he's sorta like a guy recruiting for a cult. For most people, they're gonna be like "get away creep" but the desperate ones get swept up in his sales pitch.

Yes, maybe I'm saying that the Rider fight is like a cult 🤔 So even though Kanzaki's weird emo kid vibe is funny to me, I do think it's pretty effective too.

My previous rambly Ryuki thoughts: Episodes 1-4, Episodes 5-13, and Episodes 14-22

I've now watched 13 episodes of Kamen Rider Ryuki, and every episode is just me putting my head in my hands and saying "Shinji what are you DOING" 😂

The best way I can describe Shinji so far is that he's the human equivalent of a large friendly puppy who has no idea how large he is. Like, he's a cinnamon roll too pure for this world and somehow always breaking stuff.

He's great. I love him. 10/10. No notes.

If I had a nickel for every Kamen Rider series I started watching that had a spider monster for the first fight, I'd have two nickels.

Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice

😂😂😂

But seriously, how funny is it that Kuuga's first fight was with the spider grongi guy, and then, I started watching Ryuki, and there was another spider!!

I can only assume that every Rider series starts with a spider now 🤭 (don't tell me otherwise!)
