Cinnamon roll puppy (more Ryuki thoughts)

I've now watched 13 episodes of Kamen Rider Ryuki, and every episode is just me putting my head in my hands and saying "Shinji what are you DOING" 😂
The best way I can describe Shinji so far is that he's the human equivalent of a large friendly puppy who has no idea how large he is. Like, he's a cinnamon roll too pure for this world and somehow always breaking stuff.
He's great. I love him. 10/10. No notes.
Here are a few other random thoughts about the past few episodes: (hopefully somewhat coherent because I currently have a headache the size of Texas)
Everyone continues to be really bad at journalism 😂 (I expected no less, tbh). I'm not quite sure how Ore Journal stays in business. Does anyone other than Reiko do actual work??
Moving right along, I have to say that Kamen Rider Scissors is the FUNNIEST name ever, and I'm kinda disappointed he kicked the bucket so quickly (but he was also annoying, so I was glad about that too lol).
Also, I've apparently reached the point where I've watched too much tokusatsu, because I'm starting to recognize film locations! Well, to be fair, that place for the fight scene in episode 6 is incredibly distinctive and hard to forget. It was also the site for an early fight between Kenta and Yugande in Megaranger.
Pretty neat!
One of my notes for episode 7 was just: "they called me Crayfish-Catchin' Shin"
Shinji's just so funny 😂
The mini-arc introducing Kitaoka (Zolda) and Goro was fun. The actor who plays Goro looks incredibly familiar to me though idk why (it may just be the yakuza-coded clothing)
But more importantly than introducing new Riders, the best part of this arc is that Shinji and Ren are now ROOMMATES 😂😂😂 Love this turn of events. I hope we get more scenes of them in their room over the course of the series. That enemies-to-reluctant-allies turn was QUICK.
Speaking of Ren, I'm glad we got some backstory on how he became a Rider and what he's fighting for 🥺 ahhh, I'm a sucker for that kind of storyline.
(On a sidenote, Ren probably shouldn't drive his bike with a head injury??? I worried about this for an entire episode)
I'm also glad we got a little more backstory on what happened to Yui's brother, but that really left me with more questions than answers. I'm hoping Yui learns more as the series continues and the show actually explains things. (Unlike Kuuga, which, basically like, didn't include the lore in the actual series 😂)
Anyway, the last episode I watched introduced a new Rider, so I'm excited to see where things go from here. I like his stingray motif!
(If you wanna read my initial Ryuki thoughts, they are here)
