It's been one of those up and down weeks. Things haven't been bad but I've also had a mini depressive episode knocking at my door the whole time. I've mostly managed to keep it away so far, and Saturday was a really nice day so that helped too.

This was a pretty standard run-of-the-mill episode, which meant that I actually really enjoyed it. The Scotland Yard members were all back for this episode, and Eliza got to do what she does best: solve a case!

I've enjoyed most of this season, but it was nice for a bit of a return to familiarity with this one.

Ah, it was one of those weeks where I really loved the episode until the last few minutes 😒

"The Deal" was quite entertaining, with a lot of moments I really enjoyed. But it was just that one little narrative decision in the end that sorta ruined the whole thing for me.

Halfway through season 5 now, I'm enjoying it so far, and I really do think Inspector Blake is growing on me. The second best part of this episode was watching Eliza yet again worm her way into working a case together with him.

The best part of the episode was, of course, Ivy, but I'll get back to that later.

I'm beginning to think I enjoy this series not only for Eliza's cool hats but for its exasperated men.

"Is that a sigh of irritation or acceptance?"

"Both."

This exchange was my favorite bit from this week's episode of Miss Scarlet, "The Guild." It pretty much sums up the current relationship between Eliza and Inspector Blake.

If you give Eliza enough time, she will wear down anyone with her persistence.

Season 5 of Miss Scarlet and the Duke began airing on Sunday, and unlike previous seasons, I'm gonna try (keyword: TRY) to do actual posts about each episode (there are only six this season) instead of rambling in my weekly summary.

So what's different about season 5?

Well, I should note that "and the Duke" is no longer a part of the series title, since the actor, Stuart Martin, decided he had better things to do. So now we're getting just the story of Eliza Scarlet (portrayed by Kate Phillips).

Which is fine with me because this show has always been more about her journey than William's anyway.

I have made it through the annual magazine gauntlet 🥳 thank goodness! This past week felt like it was three weeks crammed into one. I'm so tired lol. I fell behind on my reading list here the past few days, but I'm hoping to catch up on everyone's posts soon.
