Weekly summary: Nov. 10 - Nov. 16, 2024
Nov. 17th, 2024 04:39 pmThe calendar says we are halfway through November, but I can't believe it 😵💫 I need time to slow down just a bit, please and thank you.
Anyway, the usual links and rambling and such:
I must begin again with Ultraman Arc, because it's like 75 percent of what I've been thinking about lately 😂
Ishido's diary for episode 16 is really good. There's a cute little story about him going to buy the motorcycle helmet he wears briefly, and also some musings about his time with SKIP.
What a fascinating thing to say, Ishido!! I'm really loving these diary entries. I feel as though Ishido might be more the main character sometimes than Yuma is 😅
Anyway, the new episode (18) this week continued the crossover adventures of the past two episodes. It was a fun one, though the plot was weaker than previous episodes. But the ending had me so surprised that I straight up yelled in the middle of my house watching it 😂
Truly, I'll be so bored when this series ends 😭
Anyway, last bit of Arc rambling: I made a rec post over on
tokurecs for a fun Yuma/Ishido fanvid

One little fic rec this week (I haven't been able to focus enough to read very much). I really enjoyed this Ryuki fic featuring Tezuka sorta playing matchmaker in the reset timeline.
Also, not specifically a fic rec, but fics have been revealed for this round of
seasonsofdrabbles. I haven't had a chance to read anything yet, but you can browse through what's available here (I have two fics hidden in there 🤭)

Thanks to a post from
vriddy, I learned that the Japan Film Fest is now hosting a rotating assortment of things to watch all the time, not just once a year now.
I'm gonna browse around this week and see if anything catches my eye. You can check out the website here
This comes at a good time actually, because I've kinda been adrift on what to watch lately. This past week I rewatched a couple of Star Trek Voyager episodes, some Denji Sentai Megaranger episodes, and even a few Kamen Rider Ryuki episodes. My brain can't decide what it wants to focus on right now. Maybe a few movies will be a nice change of pace.
(The Megaranger rewatch, however, has been delightful. I love this show and the characters so much 🥰)

fandomtrees is currently open for signups until December 5! I enjoyed this event last year, so I'll probably sign up again this year. But I'm not sure yet what I wanna request 🤔

Here's a fun bit of news: Best Jeanist from bnha won a special recognition at the real Best Jeanist awards this year 🤭
I've always said that Horikoshi naming a character after the actual Best Jeanist awards is the funniest thing he's ever done, and so this acknowledgement of that is really cute! Best Jeanist's voice actor, decked out in full denim, of course, accepted the award.

Lastly, offline life:
I tried to do some art last night, and it... didn't turn out great! 😂 I was too ambitious, I think, for what a wanted to draw. Coloring my sketch with crayons did not even save it this time. Oh well! I'll put my sketchbook away for a while and maybe touch it again in a few months.
Also, I got out of the house yesterday to go see a local youth theater production of Willy Wonka Jr. It was very cute! An acquaintance of mine is the director, so I wanted to support the show. My coworker came with me and we had a fun time. The kids did such a great job. I was impressed 🥰
I wish there had been opportunities like this available when I was a kid. But it's nice to see them available now.
Anyway, that's it for today. I should... probably attempt to cook dinner at some point. Wishing everyone a sweet week ahead!

Everything was the exact same and yet completely different. What changed most was probably me.
