Weekly summary: Feb. 4 - Feb. 10, 2024

I have made it through the annual magazine gauntlet 🥳 thank goodness! This past week felt like it was three weeks crammed into one. I'm so tired lol. I fell behind on my reading list here the past few days, but I'm hoping to catch up on everyone's posts soon.
Now for the rambly summary and links:
Season four episode five of Miss Scarlet and the Duke was really good for its character work. Eliza had to do some self-reflecting on her relationships this time, but I thought it was compelling to watch. This season has really put her through the emotional wringer. I'm really enjoying it 😅
My only complaint about this episode is that I figured out the mystery almost immediately. Oh well!
Season finale is tonight! (Really hoping for a season five renewal announcement 🤞)

Reading and writing stuff:
I made a rec post for the most recent Seasons Of Drabbles round. And I also included the one drabble I wrote too!
One fic rec this week because it was the only one (outside of SoD) I had time to read: a post-canon FMAB fic centered on Ed & Al (interacting with various characters). Includes a really cool headcanon about alchemy.
I wrote a few more things for
halfamoon this past week:
Day 4 is a momojirou (bnha) fic for the "books" prompt.
Day 7 is some meta about Eliza Scarlet (Miss Scarlet and the Duke) for the "passion" prompt.
Day 8 is a Toph/Suki (atla) fic for the "food and drink" prompt.
I had ideas for other days too, but I hit the "work turned my brain into mush" wall by Friday so I wasn't able to write them. Hopefully I'll get at least one more done this week tho! It's been a fun challenge and I've enjoyed browsing through everyone else's posts too

Music stuff!
I've been waiting for hsj to upload their pv for Fantastic Time, and they finally did this week! The music video is not very exciting but I do enjoy the song quite a bit. On a funny sidenote, the group's Twitter account accidentally called it "funtastic time" instead and then had to apologize for the typo 😂
OK, this next video isn't music, but it's hsj-related, so I'll share it here anyway. Takaki made an appearance on Kame's YouTube channel. They went for a drive together. I can tell my Japanese is getting way too rusty bc I couldn't follow the whole conversation. But that just means I'll just have to watch it again!
Back to music:
YouTube rec'd me this cool anime acapella medley which I really enjoyed! I didn't know all the songs but acapella is just so cool to listen to. I'm always impressed!
A rare non-Japanese rec: I can't remember if I've shared songs from The Dead South before (they're bluegrass), but they've just released a new album and here's the music video for Yours to Keep. The bassist is doing the lead vocals this time which is really cool! (He's usually just backing vocals)
Lastly, Band Maid shared a nice concert performance of Unleash. Lotta fun and good energy here! (And English subtitles available!)
***
ANN shared this really interesting interview with G-witch voice actors Lynn (Miorine) and Ichinose Kana (Suletta). I enjoyed getting to hear their perspectives on the series.
(I need to rewatch G-witch sometime before it disappears from YouTube)
***
Some Star Trek stuff:
I stumbled across this hilarious compilation of three seconds from every Star Trek Voyager episode 😂 it reminded me of so many ridiculous moments. I didn’t have time yet, but I'll probably write a Trek Thoughts post about this video later.
Also, here is a cool violin cover of several Star Trek themes! It's really pretty 🥰
***
Lastly, I drew some art yesterday!! I haven't touched my sketchbook in over a year, but I had a fun idea for the Year of the Dragon. So I tried drawing it, and it actually turned out well. I might try to make a post here later to share it?? Maybe!
Anyway, that's all for this summary! It's a rainy day here, so I hope to spend most of the day reading 🥰 Wishing everyone a super lovely week ahead!
