Friday Five answers (12/12/25)
Dec. 12th, 2025 09:54 pmWaffled a bit on whether to answer these, then decided "what the heck! Sure!" So... here ya go:
1. Did you get an allowance as a kid, and if so, how much was it?
No. And frankly, I'm still a bit baffled by the concept 😅
2. How old were you when you had your first job, and what was it?
17. And this is so weird for a first job, but I had a brief summer internship at the local university writing content for their website. I think I also did some babysitting that same summer, but I hated that so much, I think I've blocked out most of those memories
3. Which do you do better: save money or spend money?
Save money! My only indulgent spending these days is buying lunch once (or twice) a week, and maybe one or two impulsive DVD/blu-ray purchases a year.
When I was younger, I used to have a bad habit of stashing away birthday/Christmas money in my bedroom and then completely forget about it. So like whenever I'd deep clean my room each year, I'd find a surprise amount of cash 😂 Unfortunately I am an adult and no one sends me money on birthdays or Christmas now, so this never happens anymore ðŸ˜
4. Are people more likely to borrow money from you, or are you more likely to borrow from them?
Honestly, cannot recall any instances of people asking me for money or me asking people for money 🤔
5. What's the most expensive thing you've ever bought?
Putting aside necessities like when I had to buy a car, I guess it would have been the plane tickets for my trip to Japan in 2014. I doubt I'll ever get the chance to go again, so it was worth it.
