Gingaman thoughts! (Episodes 27-34)
Jun. 3rd, 2026 08:34 pmIt's been way too long since I wrote about Gingaman! I'm enjoying this show a lot but my brain keeps wanting to take long breaks from it for some reason.
Anyway, here's a few (mildly spoilery) thoughts about episodes 27-34:
☆ This wraps up (I think) Illiess' run as the villain general in charge. She was okay but not particularly inventive as a villain. Though I do think it's funny that her monsters are running plots that feel like they belong in early Sailor Moon (Like in episode 31 when people got their fortunes read and then turned to stone?? 😂)
☆ Speaking of the villains, at this point, I think it's really funny that they just have no idea how to wake up Daitanix. It's like throwing spaghetti at a wall and seeing what sticks! (Nothing sticks lol)
☆ This batch of episodes introduced some new Star Beasts... but the Star Beasts still freak me out, so I mostly am still ignoring them.
☆ I really enjoyed episode 29 for several reasons: it was a good episode for whump enjoyers (me). Hikaru gets a chance to show how much he's grown from the bratty teen has was in the beginning. Oh, and Hikaru and Hyuuga get kidnapped by a GIANT FUCKING SLINKY?! 😂😂😂😂😂
☆ episode 31 was also really good! I enjoy Hayate-focused episodes anyway, but this one gave the spotlight to his friendship with Yuta. It was really sweet!
☆ But also, Hayate's fight with Shelinda in episode 31 was great 👀 I loved her super dramatic fall of defeat
☆ [insert Kamen Rider jokes during the episode with all the motorcycles] 😂
☆ the team should let Gouki go on a date in peace!!
☆ I really liked the action in episode 34! Very engaging to watch them running the gauntlet through past monsters to save the day. But also really funny that people were getting attacked by blood-sucking lizards at the same time
☆ The Star Festival decorations were basically just Christmas decorations. 10/10 no notes.
☆ I think by this point, I have to say Gingaman is less of a hot mess than Lost Galaxy (tho I enjoyed Lost Galaxy too)
I guess my next Gingaman post will be the final batch of episodes! Previous posts: episodes 1-14 and episodes 15-26
