This week we say goodbye to the SSBC team 😭 Also: Gozyuger was okay; the angst continues for 10 Things...; and Ultraman Omega visits Jurassic Park (kinda)

Some spoilers (as always) but not very spoiler-heavy this week

Gozyuger (episode 28)

Definitely an improvement over the previous episode, but I still think this two-parter crammed in way too many storylines. Nothing gets enough focus for the payoff at the end to be satisfying.

That said, I really enjoyed Bouquet in this episode. Especially her interactions with Fire Candle. They are besties, Your Honor!! It's nice that the two of them have actually had some focus episodes recently, instead of being one-note (but still fun) villains.

I wish we'd had more time with the Gozyugers in their dreams. Kinjirou's was particularly heartbreaking 😭 but I wanted to see more of everyone's. (Except Ryuugi's 😂 man, I am begging you to get a hobby or something)

Lastly, these past two episodes just made me think that we are in need of an episode where Kumade gets knocked down a few pegs. I think it would be good for him 🙂

SSBC (episode 9) (final episode!)

I'm so sad to see this series end! I enjoyed it from start to finish. (I'm kinda hoping they'll get a season 2 eventually. I think the ratings have been decent enough for it.)

This final episode wrapped up things nicely, and the team got to showcase all their usual skills. The investigative work wasn't too crazy this time, but the story remained engaging enough that I didn't mind. I just love watching Nanami, Igaki, and Aoyagi work together (along with the rest of the team of course too). You'd think running through the streets searching for surveillance cameras wouldn't be very compelling, and yet, it was to me every time.

Perhaps my only complaint about this episode is that giving the culprit blue eyes undercut the mystery of the investigation. We know he's the guy, even if it takes the team longer to find the evidence. So the end felt slightly anticlimactic, but there was plenty of character moments (especially with Nanami and his uncle, and between Igaki and Aoyagi) to make up for that instead.

Overall, I would definitely watch this series again if given the chance. Maybe one day I'll get to watch it subbed!

10 things... (episode 10)

More angst this week, but I really enjoyed this episode! After almost getting outed last week, Tojo is struggling to figure out what to do and basically puts their relationship on hold. His work friend Kuroki notices something's up and invites him over for a barbecue with his family.

Like episode 8 with Keishi and Utagawa, I liked that this episode was mostly Tojo and Kuroki (and his adorable daughters). It's nice that the show acknowledges other relationships outside of the main romance. I think Tojo needed some outside perspective on things. Even if he didn't open up to Kuroki, the conversations he had with the family definitely gave him something to think about.

So when he runs into Keishi at the end of the episode, it's heartbreaking to see him refuse to make amends right away, but it makes sense that he's still thinking things over. Like I've said in previous reviews, I enjoy the way this series really digs into Tojo's mindset as he learns how to break through his shell and open up to love.

I look forward to these episodes every week! I'm sad there are only two left now 😭 But I think the resolution will ultimately be very satisfying.

Ultraman Omega (episode 9)

I liked this one! Mostly because it had some fun Sorato and Kosei moments. (I especially loved their rock-paper-scissor battles.) Their relationship really carries this show. It's been nice to see it develop since the series began.

The plot this week was kinda like off-brand Jurassic Park. A super rich dude wanted to make a theme park around a sleeping kaiju. Of course, the kaiju woke up and so it never came to fruition. Which was probably for the best!

I kinda think whatever message/theme they were going for with the CEO guy felt a little unfinished at the end, to me. Like the episode ran out of time to wrap it up. But, regardless, I enjoyed it anyway.

I am, however, nervous about next week's episode because it features journalism, which is always hit or miss with me in media 😅

Kamen Rider Zeztz is starting today, and I'm gonna add that to this weekly review post too. It's gonna legally be available to watch on YouTube! (But not archived for some silly reason) But, anyway, the premiere is at 10:30pm in my time zone, and I don't want to make these weekly review posts so late. So I'll include episode 1 here next week. I'm not sure I'll like the series, but I definitely want to check it out!
