Early Halloween mood 🎃
Aug. 22nd, 2025 11:06 pmI know it's still August but I have been in a Halloween mood since last week.
I recently was gifted a new Halloween decoration by my mom, which I think sparked the spooky season vibes for me. The decoration is so adorable! It's three little ghosts wearing witch hats and carrying pumpkins for trick-or-treating. I put it in my living room, and it makes me think about Halloween every time I see it (which is every day lmao)
Spooky season is my favorite, because I love the aesthetics of ghosts and skeletons and witches, etc. It's perfect for Fall when the leaves start falling off and trees begin to look dead themselves.
Anyway, I've started listening to all my seasonal music 😂 I'll link a few recs under the cut (they're all YouTube links)
☆ a fun cover of Thriller by Postmodern Jukebox, featuring Wayne Brady as the singer. There's also some fantastic tap dancing too!
☆ Halloween Party by Halloween Junky Orchestra, which was a one-off group put together by Hyde and featured a ton of people from bands that were popular in the vkei scene in the 2000s. If you wanna know who's who, there is a credits sequence at the end!
☆ Phanto(me) by Reol. I just love how weird this music video is 😁
☆ This is Halloween but this is the version from the Japanese dub of Nightmare Before Christmas. Wanted to share this because I love hearing different language versions of songs.
☆ La Bruja by Tempus Quartet, a cool group of string musicians from Mexico. The aesthetics of this video are Day of the Dead, not Halloween, but I'm adding it here anyway because it's pretty.
☆ Spooky Swing 2022. This is a long mix of songs from Electro Swing Thing. They do this every year but nothing tops the 2022 version in my opinion. Very fun, but I don't usually listen much past the hour mark.
I usually wait until at least September to rewatch Over the Garden Wall, but I may just watch it early this year. I've also been thinking about how now would be the perfect time to do a reread of Vampire Hunter D.
And, I even spent money this week to buy tickets for a local ghost tour in October. I'm very excited about it!!
Maybe if I finish up my still-in-progress deep cleaning of the house, I will just go ahead and put up the rest of my Halloween decorations 😁🎃👻
