Weekly summary: June 8 - June 14, 2025

alchemicinkMade it through an incredibly busy/stressful work week 😩 My brain is mush now though.
But nevertheless, we persist! I do have a few things (mostly music) to share this week:
Music stuff! I have a couple of new songs from bands I keep up with, but also just some old favorites I've randomly been listening to again too.
I can't remember if I've ever shared a Jupiter song here before, but it's one of Hizaki's side bands (Hizaki is from Versailles, one of my old favorites. And another member of Versailles is in Jupiter as well). Anyway, Ecliptic" is their new song. I'm not sold on this vocalist, but I did enjoy the music very much.
Here's another old favorite from Abingdon Boys School: Via Dolorosa
I have been obsessively listening to Gozyu Polar's character song You Be One Winner by Kitadani Hiroshi this week. I don't know if I really like his character yet, but I sure do love his song 😂 (I need to watch the new Gozyuger episode soon)
Was feeling a bit nostalgic and looked up some of my favorite D'espairsray songs. I used to listen to them a lot in high school. Garnet is one of my top favorites.
YouTube caught onto my nostalgia and also rec'd High and Mighty Color's Ichirin no Hana which, if I recall correctly, was an opening or ending for Bleach at some point. I don't think I've ever heard any other song from this band, but I really like this one!
And lastly, apparently Hanabie released a new song two weeks ago, but YouTube only just decided to rec it to me yesterday 🙄 Anyway, Spicy Queen sounds exactly like what I'd expect from Hanabie.

We got a trailer for the upcoming season 3 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. It premieres next month but I still haven't seen season 2 yet 😭 (still hoping Paramount will put it up on YouTube temporarily like they did with season 1 🙏)
But in other Strange New Worlds news, the show got renewed for seasons 4 and 5 but season 5 is gonna be the last one (and only have six episodes). Sigh.
Not quite sure Paramount is making good choices when it comes to Star Trek these days...

Fic writing wasn't happening this week, so I managed to do a little fic reading instead. My backlog of fics-to-be-read remains intimidatingly huge, but I'm trying to chip away at it!
I enjoyed this Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood fic where Olivier and Mustang thwart an assassination attempt. It's really funny!
This Voyager fic was a nice look at B'Elanna and Harry's friendship, which is my favorite thing 🥰 it's set after the episode Extreme Risk.
And lastly, this Coco fic has been sitting in my tabs for so long, I don't remember where I originally found the link for it. (I suspect it was probably![[community profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/community.png)
fancake tho). Anyway, the whole thing is basically a follow-up to the movie, written as news articles, press releases, and Twitter conversations. Very well written! (My internet connection was spotty yesterday evening, so I couldn't do much else but read this fic 😂)

In offline life, as I mentioned before: work 😩 (after Tuesday this week, however, things are probably gonna slow down again 🤞).
I had to go to two outdoor events for work, which were fine, but WAY TOO HOT. The North Carolina humidity has finally arrived so being outside is miserable these days. But one event was the annual 4-H Livestock Show, so it was fun to see all the kids and cute animals. We even had some cows in the show this year, which is pretty rare.
The other event was a Juneteenth festival yesterday, and I enjoyed chatting with several people I knew out there. But again, I could not tolerate the heat 😭 so I stayed long enough to do my work and then left. I slept most of the afternoon after I got home.
And that's it! This week, I'm hoping to be a bit more active here on Dreamwidth. I need to write another garden update, and there were several posts on my reading list I wanted to comment on but didn't have the spoons at the time. We shall see how it goes this week.
