Been a very up and down week (mostly down 😩). I have been in a weird mild depressive(?) episode all month. But I'm doing the best I can, and making it through. This'll pass, as all things do.
Anyway, let me dive into the weekly summary where there are some fun things to talk about:
Music stuff!
Finally have some hsj stuff to share this week.
Music video for their new upcoming single: UMP
A little bit of backstory on this song. When the group debuted in 2007, their first single was called "Ultra Music Power." It's what the ump part of "JUMP" in their band name stands for. The "J" stands for Johnnys, named after the founder of the company. Johnny, of course, was an absolute scumbag of a person (may he burn in hell) who abused a lot of the people in the agency, and when all the allegations finally came to light last year, the company jettisoned everything with his name on it. Hsj kept their name bc they said they didn't really think of JUMP as an acronym, but they also said they wouldn't sing their debut song anymore. (The opening line is literally "J! Johnnys!")
So this new song is sorta like a remix of the old one. They're pretty different, but some of the old lyrics are incorporated as well as some of the musical motifs and dance moves. I think it's pretty cool the group decided to forge a new path with a new song (tho it's not my personal favorite but I do really like the piano parts).
(I'm also a little annoyed that the theme for Takaki's drama got relegated to a b-side for the single when it should have been a standalone)
But enough of my old bitter fan rambling. Hsj also released a concert DVD this week, so they put the concert version of Dear My Lover on YouTube. It's a fun one!

I didn't do a lot of writing like I wanted to this week, but there were fic reveals for the 48 exchange, so I can share what I posted for that:
☆ When tragedy strikes (Ouran High School Host Club, Tamaki/Haruhi)
☆ Unconventional (Yu-Gi-Oh, Atem/Kaiba)
☆ The baker on the corner (BNHA, Bakugou/Shinsou)
☆ A hammock for two (One Piece Live Action, Shanks/Mihawk)
I wrote all of these on a whim, but it was a lot of fun. First time writing most of these ships!
Speaking of writing, I wanna signal boost
linky's Tokusatsu Ficathon! Very excited about this (now that I better understand how ficathons work compared to when I first joined dreamwidth lol). I've thrown in a few prompts and I've already picked out a few to write 👀 It's open through the end of October.
I'm gonna try to finish watching some more Tokusatsu series soon (Blazar, this week probably) so I have more to write/request~

I always read these tip articles from NPR expecting something groundbreaking and then it's always common sense stuff I already know 😂 but I figured I'd link to these tips to save on groceries anyway. Just because some of these are good reminders for me regardless.
Grocery prices have been kneecapping me lately and most of what I buy is produce, not even the pricey snacks and microwave meals and such 😠Does anyone else have any saving tips??

I'm slowly continuing my rewatch of Star Trek Voyager season 2. I got to the infamous "Threshold" episode this week (where Tom evolves into a giant salamander 😂) (he gets better)
But I also watched a B'Elanna centric episode ("Prototype") that I think gets more flack than it deserves, so maybe I'll write another Trek Thoughts post soon. It's been a while! (Hopefully I have more time this week)

Lastly, a garden update. The tomatoes are done for the year. I couldn't save them from all the weather damage they've had 😠but at least I got some good batches of tomatoes beforehand. My snap (green bean) plants are done too.
But the bell peppers and the eggplant are still trucking along! I'm really thrilled they've worked out so well this year. I'm especially surprised at how long the eggplant has been going. They were the first vegetables I was able to harvest from the garden this year, and they may last long enough to be the last ones too!
Also, I don't think I've mentioned my scuppernog grapevine here before, but those are getting ripe now too, so that's nice. I was too sick last year to enjoy them, so I'm gonna make up for it this year. I love this grapevine! It's older than me 😂 but it's still going strong.
That's all I've got this week. Wishing everyone a happy week ahead!
