February '24 writing goals

Did January feel like it lasted 100 years? It definitely felt like that to me. And yet, it's somehow time for another monthly writing goal post! (Pun always intended 😁)

January's post is here

So how'd I do with January's goals?

Uh, a little mix of success and failure, I suppose.

1) fandomtrees fics

Success! I managed to write three little ficlets for the event. I wanted to write more, but I was really pleased with what I did get done.

2) ladies bingo

Failure! I once again did not touch this at all 😭 I'm beginning to think that maybe I just can't do bingo challenges because I have such a hard time narrowing down which fandoms/characters to write for each prompt.

(Maybe if I'm desperate enough in February, I'll literally put my options in a hat and pick that way)

3) work on the kurahi hanahaki fic

Failure! I also didn't touch this. I wish I could hold enthusiasm for any of my WIPs for longer than like two hours at a time...

Overall, I didn't get to write as much as I wanted to. But to also be fair, I had to take a writing break halfway through the month to avoid burnout. So I had less time than usual to work on any of these. But the big magazine project at work is almost done so I ought to be back on track for February!

Let's throw together some February goals:

1) ladies bingo

The event runs until March I believe, so if I don't do it in February, I never will. But even if I don't manage a whole bingo line, I would be happy if I could write at least one fic!

2) femslash February

(Yes, I know this is basically the same goal as #1 😂) but I stumbled across halfamoon recently, and I think it'd be nice to maybe write one fic for that event too

........if I can pick a ship and a prompt

3) work on YYH fics

So... I broke my mini writing hiatus a few days ago to start on a yyh whump fic 😅 and it should be easy enough to finish soon (I hope) And then, Ansa gave me a fun crack fic idea this week too, so I can alternate between writing both!

Plus, hopefully I can circle back around to the hanahaki fic too. It's gonna be a fun one to write once I get into it

4) finish one WIP

I have so many!! Some of which are close to being finished actually. This hopefully won't be too hard!

5) work on some long fics

This is one of my overarching goals for 2024 because it's been years since anything I posted even came close to surpassing 10k words. I'd be happy to make progress on any of the WIPs I have already. In fact, I've been planning out a bakuiida roadtrip fic for a few years now, but kept stalling out. Recently I decided to jettison the romance aspect and now I feel excited to work on it again! Hopefully I can do a couple scenes this month. And poke at a few others as well

And that's it! My birthday is in February so hitting any of these goals would be a nice present to myself. But we shall see next month if I stick to these or toss them out the window immediately 😂😂😂

So many fun projects ahead :D Good luck with the YYH fic and that roadtrip fic sounds super fun as well, it's awesome you figured out how to restore your enthusiasm for it :D

I'm excited to be writing again 😊 and thank you! I'm especially excited about the road trip fic because I started it back in 2021 so it's about time I make some progress on it!
