It's been such a busy but good week actually 🥰 I have lots to ramble about this time. Let's get to it!

The first [community profile] sunshine_revival challenge was about goals, so that lined up perfectly with my monthly writing goals post. I feel good about my goals for July. I even got a start on some of them already!

Maybe I will even post some fics to ao3 this month 😅🤞

Anyway, there's a second sunshine_revival challenge out now, but I'm still thinking over what I'll write for that one.

The new Ultraman series, Ultraman Omega, premiered this week. More on the episode itself later in this post. But first, I enjoyed these short interviews with the three main cast members:
character: Ayumu
character: Kosei
character: Sorato

Signal boost: [personal profile] kingstoken is running a prompt fest focusing on Watson (from any Sherlock Holmes canon) here

The only canon I'm familiar enough with to request/write is Elementary. (Lucy Liu as Joan Watson is an all-time favorite ♡). I'm gonna throw in a few prompts and hope I find one to claim too.

Music stuff!

No new music this week, but I did stumble across some old favorites on YouTube. Figured I'd share them anyway.

Beat Line by hsj is one of my top favorites from them. It was, of course, a b-side from a single back in 2011. Because all their best songs are b-sides actually 😭 Anyway, they used to do this one in concert a lot and it was SO FUN. They need to bring this one back!!!

And here's Takahashi Hitomi's song Aozora no Namida (Tears of the Blue Sky) which was an opening from the anime Blood+ (which I watched back when I was in high school 😭😅😭)

Can't quite explain what I like about the song, but I like it a lot.

Things I have been watching:

Whale Store xoxo (youtube playlist here [note that the most recent episode is at the top])

I enjoyed episode 2, but like I said last week, I think this series is gonna have pacing issues. Still, I'm enjoying the developing romance between the leads so far (they're cute), and the rest of the characters will probably grow on me after another episode or so. Regardless, it's nice to have something to watch on Wednesdays.

Ultraman Omega (first episode is on YouTube here)

This first episode didn't immediately grab my attention the way Ultraman Arc did, but I still enjoyed it. (I also didn't really like the first episode of Ultraman Blazar but still ended up loving the series, so I'm not worried.)

I think what threw me off the first time I watched the episode is that the main guy just is not expressive at all. But he's an alien with amnesia and when I watched the episode again, it occurred to me that his lack of facial expressions is probably because he's an Ultraman who... can't really make facial expressions either. This is his first time with a human face 😅

Anyway, I'm excited to tune in for this show each Friday for the next 6 months! (But I am mad we don't have an English dub yet... not sure what's up with that)

10 things I want to do before I turn 40 (I can't link this one bc I had to 🏴‍☠️)

This is a new Japanese BL that just started, and I really wanted to check it out firstly for the leads (Kazama Shunsuke and Kohei Shoji) and secondly because it's cool to see a series focused on a character who is not too much older than me.

I enjoyed episode 1. The premise is really cute (guy turning 40 in a few months makes a to-do list, and his coworker offers to do things on the list together). I don't usually like age gap romances but I'll make an exception for this one. This first episode was a lot of just setting up the series and establishing characters, but I'm really looking forward to watching it play out. (If I can continue to find the episodes... 🤞)

These three new shows plus Gozyuger (and hopefully Takaki's upcoming new drama too) will be keeping me busy with weekly watching for a while!

I shared a short garden update about my flowers this week.

It's raining today (and probably tomorrow too) so I won't be doing too much with the garden until things dry out again.

In case you missed it: there's a masterpost for [community profile] intoabar up now. I didn't participate this year, but if you like crossovers, check it out.

Lastly, offline life was mostly uneventful. I had Friday off thanks to the holiday. And I visited my brother on Saturday so we could continue watching Stranger Things. We're halfway through season 3 now! I continue to enjoy the show, but I'm surprised that I'm not feeling very fannish about it yet. No fic ideas whatsoever, which is kinda unusual for me. (I always have fic ideas, even if I don't write them.) Oh well, maybe once we get caught up through the end of season 4?

Anyway, that's it. Wishing everyone a wonderful week ahead!
