A decade of fic writing!

alchemicinkOn this day (Jan. 19) in 2014, I joined ao3 and posted my first fic! I can't believe it's been 10 years ago now 😯
I had, of course, been writing plenty of fic for years and had never shared it with anyone before. But in 2014, I was quite lonely (all of my irl friends had moved away after college and I'd moved back home, and it was difficult to stay in touch by that point), so I thought sharing my fanfic might be a nice way to meet some new people who shared similar interests.
I rarely make actual new years resolutions, but mine for 2014 was to make an ao3 account.
In the ten years since then, I've posted 231 fics with a combined total of more than 750,000 words. Those numbers are still a bit mind-boggling to me 😅 And I've also met a lot of cool and interesting people over the years, some of whom I count as good friends even now.
(And a special shoutout tobluedreaming who I think is responsible for a good chunk of my fics simply by sending me over the years numerous links to different exchanges and events I might be interested in 😂 plus, our fun Pod_Together collabs too!)
Writing has always been my favorite thing to do. It's the best way for me to process my thoughts and emotions. I love exploring characters dynamics and character growth through fic. I love putting together a story like putting together puzzle pieces. I love exploring weird formatting options to tell a story in a different way. I love making people laugh with my silly jokes. I love getting to practice and improve my skills simply by writing about characters that are really interesting to me.
I have no intentions of quitting any time soon 🥰
So after ten years (which absolutely flew by somehow), I really just want to say thanks to anyone who's taken the time to read my fics. Even just one! It means a lot to me that I'm able to share these fun stories with other people instead of keeping them locked away on my hard drive to gather dust and cobwebs.
I hope to write some cool stuff in the next ten years too!
