Iida headcanons: pirate edition

alchemicinkMy Twitter app unfortunately updated itself recently, so now it's ugly and up-to-date 😩 But on the one bright side, the search function is working for me again. Which means I'm able to dig up my old tweets whenever I think about them.
I've been in a pirate-y mood lately (thanks OPLA), and I recently remembered I had a tweet thread last year of Pirate Iida Tenya headcanons I threw together. I'll share them here too (so I won't lose them whenever Twitter inevitably dies).
I was inspired by a bit of official artwork that had many of the bnha cast as pirates. Iida was wearing a fun hat and looked cute 😅 I had a lot of fun coming up with these ideas!
1) started out as a proud Navy officer but then became a pirate in his quest for revenge on the man who attacked his older brother
2) did extensive research on pirates at the local library before joining a crew (always gotta be prepared!!)
3) is not exactly a fan of pirate fashion, since he believes the feathery hats serve no practical purpose
4) lectures other pirates with fashion-accessory eyepatches on the importance of depth perception and its relation to safety
5) speaking of safety, he compiled a whole safety manual for life on a pirate ship. (How to avoid splinters from rotting wood, for example) Unfortunately, no one else will take the time to read it
6) has concerns about the nutritional content of what pirates regularly eat. "Man cannot live by rum and biscuits alone!"
(Bakugou, spitefully: just watch me!!)
7) really enjoys Sea Shanty Night on the ship! It's very good for bonding with the crew!
8) thinks he's supposed to have a certain evil laugh for plundering ships, and he practices it regularly in secret. No one else has the heart to tell him they can all hear it
9) is surprisingly good at sword fights??
10) is surprisingly bad at navigation??
11) keeps the ship fully stocked with oranges to prevent scurvy
12) has suggested on more than one occasion that prisoners should be turned over to the proper authorities instead of walking the plank (Sometimes they listen to this suggestion and then maroon the prisoner instead)
13) is honestly not the greatest pirate in the world but he's trying his best!! 🏴☠️
Maybe one day I'll turn this into a fun little genfic? Who knows!
