Weekly summary: Oct. 12 - Oct. 18, 2025
Oct. 19th, 2025 04:56 pmIt finally feels like Fall here π I may even have to turn my heat on next week! I hate having to pull out long-sleeved clothes, but I do appreciate not sweating to death every time I go outside now π
Anyway, the summary:
I've been incredibly busy with a work project this past week, but I managed to do some fic writing too.
I posted this Kamen Rider Kuuga fic for
tokufemslash. It's post-canon Sakurako/Minori. This was my first time writing them, but I had fun. I definitely want to write this ship again.
It was also my Shiritori turn over at
writetomyheart so I threw together a character study snippet of Ryuugi from Gozyuger. Specifically set before episode 31. I'm hoping to come back to it eventually and write a full fic.
As for other fics, I'm still trying to finish a fill for Hotties Haunting the Narrative. Hoping it'll be done this week! And I'm trying to finish a few more things for Ultratober too.
Also, signal boosting a few fic exchanges open for signups right now:
β
seasonsofdrabbles signups end today(!) if anyone wants to sign up last minute (I'm skipping signing up this round, but am planning to contribute a treat or two.)
β Another Toku Holiday Exchange signups are open until Nov 2. I am going to sign up for this one! (Toku is about the only thing my brain wants to write at the moment lol)
β
startrekholidays signups are open until Oct 25

My regular TV reviews are here. I may be doing too much at one time π We'll see how it goes.
I do think I'm gonna get a chance to get back to watching Gingaman this week! It's been too long (it hasn't actually been that long)

Lastly, offline life has been busy, but there have been some fun things too.
I shared a photo of a praying mantis hanging around my house. Neat!
In my attempt to get out of the house for more non-work things, I did a lot on Saturday. One of the nearby towns was doing a Fall Festival, so I went to that Saturday morning (to shop for early Christmas presents from the vendors. I was marginally successful). The robotics team from the local high school had a tent set up for a bake sale fundraiser, and they had their robotics stuff out there too for demonstrations. The kids were really excited to show it off, so I had a good time chatting with them for a bit, and asking questions. And then I bought a very delicious cookie from them! Best purchase all day.
Then I headed back home for a bit, and then headed out that evening for a ghost tour in another nearby town. The historic association for the town puts it on, so there was a lot of interesting history mixed in with the (mostly probably made up) ghost stories. It was a lot of fun! I'd definitely want to go back again next year. The tour was almost two hours tho, which is longer than I expected. But the historic district of town is a pretty wide section and we walked all over over. It was also pretty funny that some of the volunteers at each stop were like giving a full performance in character, and others were just reading stiffly from a sheet of paper π it added some charm to the tour.
Perhaps the spookiest story was one about a headless horseman seen nearby after a gruesome murder from the late 1800s. I'd never heard that particular story before, but other people in my group said they'd heard of that one when they were kids.
My favorite story, because it was a funny one, was about a guy who'd gone for a drink at the tavern one night, then decided to sleep in the graveyard, which was fine until he woke up with a white figure hovering over him. He started yelling "ghost, ghost, ghost!" and ran away, only to discover that it had been a white goat that had gotten loose from the neighbors π
And that's it! Overall, it was a good week. Hopefully, next week will be even better.
Wishing everyone a charming week ahead!
