Write a love letter to fandom. It might be to fandom in general, to a particular fandom, favourite character, anything at all.
So this was a tough one to decide what to write. But I just finished Kamen Rider Amazon yesterday, and have been thinking about how he should be friends with Hoeru from No. 1 Sentai Gozyuger and Blazar from Ultraman Blazar because they actually share quite a few commonalities, despite being so different. (The biggest one is their tendency to howl 😂 a good example of Blazar howling is here from 0:39 to 0:48)
This will probably make no sense to anyone who hasn't seen these shows, and it ended up incredibly cheesy and heartfelt when I originally just wanted to write something funny. But that's fine because I wanted to write more meta this year (this counts, right?) and I had fun writing it anyway!
Therefore, I present:
An ode to weird guys who howl (and also feel out of place)
To Amazon, who grew up amidst the lush green forest of his namesake, far away from the hustle and bustle of modern society. Who traveled far away to Japan to fight an unspeakable evil that destroyed his home first.
To Hoeru, who accidentally stumbled into another world as a child and was lost for 10 years. Who was separated from his family, and who gave up on wishing for anything to protect himself.
To Blazar, who was lost amongst the stars and may never find his way home again. Who reached out to a hand offered in need and found a new place to be.

To Amazon, who doesn't speak Japanese and doesn't wear the same kinds of clothes that everyone else does. Who endures dirty looks and scoffs from people who don't know or understand what he does to save people.
To Hoeru, who finds it difficult to navigate society after 10 years away and calls himself a lone wolf. Who struggles to support himself alone. Who can't hold down a part-time job thanks to his rough words and even rougher attitude.
To Blazar, who cannot speak at all. Who must find other ways to make his presence known.

To Amazon, who takes the time to learn. Who studies the language of his new friends. Who masters riding a motorcycle despite being scared of the noise at first.
To Hoeru, who is excited to take part in Sports Day for the first time in his life. Who eagerly takes notes when learning about gyaru fashion. Who tries new things no matter how many times he gets knocked down.
To Blazar, who watches and observes those around him. Who quietly stares at the television program about parents and children. Who shamelessly swipes a cup of vegetable juice just to see what it tastes like.

To Amazon, who easily makes friends with children. Who finds support from good friends who help him navigate the world.
To Hoeru, who somehow finds himself in a team of outcasts. Who tried to quit but found himself drawn back to them anyway.
To Blazar, who learns from his host, Gento, to never leave anyone behind, but especially his SKaRD teammates. And who learns how to draw strength from family in the darkest of moments.

To Amazon, Hoeru, and Blazar, who get up and fight villains and monsters and kaiju and the whole world if they have to, just to keep people safe. To protect them. To let them live in peace. Because even if they don't quite fit in, they know that it's important to help others.
To Amazon, Hoeru, and Blazar, who howl and bite and claw at their enemies. Thank you for unashamedly being yourself, so that other weird people in the world who don't quite fit in don't feel so alone.
