Weekly summary: Sept. 29 - Oct. 5, 2024

alchemicinkNot much to share this week because offline life was very hectic. And also I've been having mysterious back pain since yesterday. Not intolerable but definitely very distracting. But I'm hanging in there! Somehow!!
Anyway, music stuff!!
It's kinda funny because my friend was rec'ing me Atarashii Gakko last week and I also was recently talking about Maximum the Hormone with my brother. And then, this week they do a collab??? What perfect timing!
It's a new version of Shimi which is an old song from my favorite Maximum the Hormone album. I thought the remix was really fun!
Two more NEWS music videos to share this week: Koi no ABO and Happy Birthday. These were the ones I've been waiting for since they started putting the old videos on YouTube! The first one is a silly song about blood types 😂 and the other is a sweet one about, you guessed it, birthdays. I'm thrilled that I can send the link to my friends for their birthdays now!!
Lastly, a new Band Maid song to celebrate their new album! Forbidden Tale was good but I've only listened to it once so far. So I don't have any other commentary for it yet other than "I liked it!"

I continue to be really invested in Ultraman Arc right now 😅 I was even extra excited for the recap episode this week! It was cute even tho recaps are ultimately kinda boring. This episode gives some hints to some important upcoming lore, but the most important thing I learned from this episode is the existence of Kopi Luwak 😂 (Google that at your own risk)
Also sharing, as usual, the most recent translated entry for Ishido's diary. This one's for episode 11, and it shows what Ishido was thinking at the end of that episode 👀
These diary entries are really inspiring me to write a fic of the whole series from Ishido's perspective. But I gotta wait until the series is complete, lest I accidentally contradict canon.

Other things I'm watching:
Like they've done previously, Paramount has temporarily put up a season of Star Trek Lower Decks on YouTube. This time it's season 4 (since season 5 will be airing soon).
I'm enjoying it so far, but it's not clicking with me like previous seasons have. It's still very funny tho! I currently have three more episodes left to finish up the season, so maybe I'll change my mind by the end.
Also, last night while I couldn't sleep thanks to my back, I searched on a whim to see if I could find the live action toku Sailor Moon series again. Back in 2022, I stumbled across the series and watched half of it. Then that source disappeared, so I never finished it. Which made me so sad because I really enjoyed it!!
Anyway, I found a new source last night 👀 so I think I'm gonna watch it before it disappears again!
...I also found Abaranger too.
I told myself before that I was gonna watch all the legally available sentai and rider series first before diving into the others. But I'm just so tempted to watch the actor who plays the Chief in Ultraman Arc as AbareRed. So... I'll probably be watching that too.
AND I'm planning to start watching Kamen Rider Ryuki very soon. As you can see, I'm on a tokusatsu kick right now 😂

I'm hoping to squeeze in some writing this week if I'm not too exhausted from work. I started on some fics for Trick or Treat exchange yesterday. So we'll see how that goes.
But, like I said at the beginning, life is a little hectic at the moment. And currently I'm sitting in various rooms in the house trying to figure out which smoke alarm keeps randomly going off. Sigh. (Not sure if I've ever mentioned my house ghost here, but this feels very much like their handiwork.)
In happier news, I managed to put up my Halloween decorations yesterday 🎃 finally starting to get into the spirit of the season again!

Date: 2024-10-09 01:18 am (UTC)I’m glad that you’re having fun on a tokusatsu kick! I haven’t been able to really watch stuff for ages but since I was sick I’ve managed to hold onto the momentum so 🤞 I can find a consistent balance - it’s really nice to be able to watch stuff at all 😂

Currently, I'm taking the batteries out of all but one fire alarm, and cycling around until I figure it out 🤞 no luck so far but I'm optimistic

(Because of that I've forgotten most of it.) And I adore Abaranger, its one of my favorite sentai! AbareRed/Ryouga is such a good red and I love him a lot. So it was exciting to hear he got cast for Arc! I hope you enjoy ryuki too!
