This batch of Blazar episodes didn't have as many funny moments as previous ones, but there's still a lot happening to keep my attention. Gento and Blazar finally reach an understanding, the higher ups are being shady, and Emi manages to uncover some sort of overarching plot now that we're halfway through the series!

Spoilery thoughts under the cut:

Episode 11 & 12

I enjoyed watching Blazar and Gento learn how to work better together in these two episodes. Even though Blazar doesn't really talk, he finds ways to communicate with Gento, and I find that really compelling to watch. The end of episode 12 was a nice, satisfying conclusion to this little arc, showing how they've both grown and developed since episode one.

The kaiju and the fights in these two episodes were really fun! I loved the weird space starfish design and how he wobbled around when he walked. The new sword was a cool addition to Blazar's arsenal, and I just loved how excited Blazar was when he got it. And it was nice to see the team (and Gento's old team too) work to maneuver the kaiju into position. Good teamwork that was a little bit different than their usual methods.

Oh, and I shouldn't forget to mention the background music during the kaiju battle (the second one) was cool. I liked it a lot!

Episode 13

A recap episode mostly, but filled with some interesting details that'll be important in the next episode.

Not much to say about the plot, but I like that we get a little bit of downtime for the team and get to see them hang out. And now I ship Anri and Emi πŸ˜‚

All the weird camera shots and angles were distracting though!

Episode 14

Emi finally gets to do something! (It’s computer hacking and talking to old guys) And she finally uncovers a bit of plot. I'm definitely intrigued about V99 and the old guy she confronts in the gym (I've unfortunately already forgotten his name but he's definitely important).

It's sad to learn about her missing father, but I'm even more intrigued that it's connected to what happened to Gento three years ago. I appreciate that this show is only giving us little puzzle pieces as we go, so I can try to figure it out.

Also, Yasunobu named their van Mopy! πŸ˜‚ Is there no inanimate object he won't name??

Episode 15

A cute little one-off episode, focusing more on Gento's relationship with his family. It was nice to see him interact with his kid -- he's a very enthusiastic parent 😁 But I didn't really vibe with the rest of the episode, especially with the kids. (I'm still watching the dub, so maybe they would be less grating in Japanese?)

Still, it was a cute episode. Apparently the Gavadon kaiju is a throwback to an older series (like episode 9 was for Ultra Q) but since I haven't seen any of them, it was a bit lost on me.

My favorite bit was when Blazar turned his spear into a claw machine to pick up Gavadon (only to drop him at the last moment) πŸ˜‚

Miscellaneous things

β˜† Now that Emi's gotten some focus again, it's time for Teruaki to get in the spotlight! I'm hoping he gets a chance to shine in upcoming episodes instead of standing around looking nervous all the time

β˜† through 15 episodes now, my favorite kaiju designs are the sleepy mountain guy in episode 5 and wobbly space starfish in episodes 11 & 12.

β˜† Anri continues to be my favorite character, but Yasunobu is a close second because he can't stop naming things
