Weekly summary: Dec. 3 - Dec. 9, 2023

Writing this summary post while it's gray and rainy outside. Very appropriate for December, I guess. I want to take a nap 😅

Anyway, here's a few things:

I spent most of my evenings this week watching the rest of Turn A Gundam. I really enjoyed the series!! It was on par with G-witch in terms of the ending (a sweet, optimistic one), so I was glad for that! I want to write a standalone post this week to go more in-depth with my thoughts on the series. But overall, it was just a really entertaining series with a good mix of thoughtful commentary and fun moments.

I'm devastated that there are only 17 fics for this fandom on ao3 😭

Did a little bit of fic reading this week, focusing on some Power Rangers (2017 movie) fics. I enjoyed this Trini and Zack friendship fic and also this Trini-centric trimberly fic

I think I'm gonna try to put a dent in my to-read list this week, so hopefully I'll have a variety of fandoms to rec next week.

The live action Yu Yu Hakusho series premieres on December 14! (So soon!!) Netflix released another trailer and some character profile videos a few days ago. All the links are here in this ANN article

I'm still very excited about this series! I read that it's only 5 episodes though, so I'm hoping the story doesn't feel too rushed.

Mostly, this has just reignited my love for Kurama. I feel like I'm reliving 2005 all over again 😂

Music stuff!

It's just a few hsj videos as they continue to promote their new album. These were good performances though, and it was nice to see a backing band too. A rarity for these guys.

Had a fun time but am extremely tired after attending two parties this week. First was the annual Christmas party for the local chamber of commerce. It's always nice to see a lot of people I often run into for work, but since it's a Christmas party, we don't have to actually talk about work 😁

The second was a baby shower for my cousin. My brother and I made the trek up to Virginia on Saturday for it. Usually I hate these kinds of parties, but since it was family, it wasn't too bad because I knew most of the people there. Also the food was EXCELLENT and they even gave us to-go containers to take home. I will never say no to free food!!

I'm hoping, however, for a quieter week this week. All this socializing has wiped me out. I should probably do some chores around the house today, but I'd rather stay comfy on the couch. Oh well.

I really need to see Turn A Gundam one of these days, it's been on my radar for a while. There's an incredible fansite called Moon's Cocoon that is seriously so wonderful and in depth, I'm mutuals with the person who runs it and I admire his dedication to the show. (I'm not sure if you already came across it or not, but I thought it was worth linking!)

Thank you for the link 👀 I was just about to search for whatever fan content is available, so this'll be a good place to start!

I hope you get a chance to watch the series some time! It works well as a standalone (though there are a few references to other Gundam series) and the main character is really adorable.

Yeah, and out of those 17, only 3 I was interested in reading 💔 but that's three more than none at all!
