Weekly summary: Nov. 26 - Dec. 2, 2023
Dec. 3rd, 2023 01:06 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
We had a bit of a cold spell here this week which was perfect timing to usher in December. (How is it already December?!) Luckily for me, the temperature went back up a little on the day I had to spend some time outside for work, so I was not a completely frozen popsicle!
Anyway, here's the usual summary:
I've not been watching Turn A Gundam as fast as I should, so it's gonna be a race to finish this week before it disappears off youtube on the 10th. But I'm 22 episodes in now and really enjoying it!
Loran, the main character, is a naive little ray of sunshine 🥰 (He'd totally be friends with Suletta in the world of Gundam protagonists.) Poor guy is always stumbling into something. But within the first five minutes of episode one, he gets chased by a coyote and almost drowns in a river, so this is just his luck 😂
Anyway, as with any Gundam series, this one does well with its anti-war themes. And I'm really interested in this story's focus on immigration and refugees. I did not expect a series from 1999 to be so prescient today.
I hope to make a few standalone posts about the series later this week, but here's one I posted about some background art I noticed that was personally amusing.

Planet BNHA exchange reveals were this week, so here is my post with my gifts and my fic if you missed it.
I also have a few art and fic recs from the collection too: a fun kamijirou skateboarding fic, lovely kiritodo volleyball fic, pretty kirimina dance art, expressive seroroki capoeira art, and the cutest tsuchako football art. There is more in the collection I haven't read yet, so maybe more recs next week!
My other fic rec for this week is this incredibly beautiful G-witch fic. It was so well-done.
***
I put together some writing goals for December, so I'm hoping this will be a good month for writing.
I already started on my Christmas fics yesterday! I'm feeling good about them so far
***
No music recs this week. It's been kinda quiet lately for most of the bands I follow. Many are touring right now, and hsj is busy promoting their new album.
***
I really enjoyed this interesting article about how some anime opening sequences drew their inspiration from a certain Hollywood graphic designer. I love how creative opening titles can be.
***
Lastly, I signed up for
fandomtrees! First time participating, so I'm really excited. I'm hopefully going to spend some time today going through other requests to see what I can gift others too.
I've been making an effort in general to interact more on DW these days, and I'm having a lot of fun so far. It feels a lot more welcoming to me than Twitter and discord ever did. But maybe it's the slower pace, which is better for me.
Anyway, that's all for this quiet week. I'm off to watch another episode of Turn A Gundam 😅 Wishing everyone a superb week ahead (with perfect temperatures).
