So... remember last week when I said my goal was to post these on Sundays? 😂
Well, it's been two Sundays in a row where I was posting fics for an exchange and didn't get around to this instead. I promise I definitely won't be doing that next Sunday, so maybe then we'll finally be on track!!
Let's get to it!
Started off the week with another fun episode of Miss Scarlet and the Duke. I wasn't too intrigued by the case this week, but Fitzroy was very charming in his sudden enthusiasm for boxing. Let the man talk about his new hobby!! I'm always happy when side characters are just as entertaining as the main ones.
The other part of this episode I really enjoyed was that it started with Eliza and William doing the whole "undercover as a married couple" trope. Always a ton of fun to see that, especially with the tension between these two.
This was a generally quieter week for me since I spent a lot of it finishing up my Planet BNHA treats. Those won't be revealed until next week, but I can share what I wrote for the 48 Flash Exchange instead! I wasn't going to participate, but my friend was doing it, and we talked so much about it that I said, what the heck, why not! 😁
Here are my short little treat fics I managed to write:
If the sock fits (BNHA; todobaku)
Teamwork (Avatar the Last Airbender; zukka)
Infinite star meal (Good Omens; Aziraphale/Crowley [IneffableHusbands])
*just a general sidenote on ship names: personally, name order means nothing to me. I just go with which ship names I like the sound of the best. So no dynamic is implied for any of them when I'm talking about ships, just for future reference.
I was too tired to do a lot of cooking this week, but I did try a new easy recipe for the first time! It was this cabbage stir-fry. Of course, I can't get Napa cabbage anywhere locally like the recipe calls for, so I just substituted a regular green cabbage. It was fine! (I've also been using pre-cut cabbage lately, which encourages me to use it more quickly, therefore reducing waste. I also just don't have a good kitchen knife to do a lot of cabbage slicing and dicing 😅 Work smarter, not harder, right?)
In music news, Queen Bee released a new lyric video. I enjoyed the song (I always enjoy Avu-chan's voice, tbh), but this is the second week in a row where a music video itself was physically hard for me to watch. What a weird coincidence. ALSO, the font used for the lyrics was impossible for me to read 😭 Oh well
The highlight of this week was receiving a super early birthday present to myself! In a fit of insane nostalgia, I purchased the Power Rangers in Space complete series on DVD a few weeks ago. I kinda expected it to take longer to arrive 😅 But nevertheless, I'm excited to watch now!!
My two favorite shows when I was 8 years old were Star Trek Voyager and Power Rangers in Space. I have always been obsessed with the space travel kind of scifi 😂 Anyway, it's been a blast to be able to rewatch Power Rangers in Space again. If you know me, you know I enjoy rewatching media geared towards children now that I have an adult perspective. It's just always fascinating to me to see how we tell stories for children. And Power Rangers has always been one of my favorite franchises for that.
Also, it's just hilariously bad too, and I'm cracking up every episode 🤣 I love tokusatsu entirely too much
I'm thinking I might write up some snarky episode recaps/reviews for the series sometime, just for fun. But probably not anytime soon!
Wrapped up my week by spending most of Saturday with my parents. Pops invited me over to watch The Foreigner. (It was very meh. 0/10 do not recommend) And then we also watched the NC State vs UNC basketball game. Not the result we were hoping for, but it's always fun to get to watch with family.
Lastly, if you're like me and don't have a Crunchyroll account but wanted to watch the new Gundam series legally, the wait is over! The Witch from Mercury is now on the GundamInfo YouTube channel. (I believe it was available on YouTube internationally before, but blocked in the US. But now, it's available here too!) I haven't had a chance to start watching yet, but it looks like they're releasing the episodes weekly. So I have time to catch up. I'm sure I'll have more to say on this in the next post.
That's it for now. Have a great week everyone!
