Weekly summary: June 25 - July 1, 2023

alchemicinkThe last week of June is in the books and July has arrived! For me, this means extremely muggy summer weather, so I'm enjoying the AC indoors as much as possible.
Which, of course, gives me time to put together this week's summary. I have added little dividers between topics this week because I think it'll help with clarity. Let's get to it!
I managed to finish watching season one of Star Trek Strange New Worlds before the month was over! It was delightful, in my opinion. I shared a few thoughts about season one (and a few other Trek things) in this post.

Not a lot of music to share this week, but HSJ's weekly video was a performance from their 15th anniversary concert. (They're promoting the upcoming dvd/bluray release lol). I hadn't heard this song before, but it's not too bad. But I was mostly distracted by the hats to pay attention to the song much 😂 I just really like hats
Also, Gacharic Spin has another concert video of a song ("Live Every Moment") from the upcoming album. It's been a while I think since I've seen Hana do this much singing in a song, so that was a nice surprise! (She's my favorite.) Their promo for this album has been good enough that I'm actually considering buying it myself!

In irl updates, we had a tiny bit of excitement in the office this week: there was a mouse!! This isn't the first time that's happened but it's been a while, so my coworkers were running around trying to get rid of it and I had fun just watching it all unfold. (I'm the office's designated spider killer so I don't mess with anything with less than 8 legs). Anyway, in the end, my boss managed to chase it outside with a broom. As I told a friend, it was a "you don't have to go home but you can't stay here" kind of situation for the mouse 😂

I was proud of myself this past week for not buying any fast food meals! I'm not trying to cut it out completely, but every now and then I like to challenge myself to make sure I cook more. So now that I'm getting more garden vegetables, I've had plenty to work with! By the way, if anyone has recipes for yellow summer squash and zucchini, feel free to share them! I need more ideas.
Speaking of recipes, I didn't use many this week, but this corn rice recipe from Just One Cookbook was a standout. I've actually tried this before and it didn't turn out well. But this week's attempt went much better! I'm sure I'll be making it again soon when I get more garden corn.

As the week wrapped up, so did Twitter... apparently. Whatever tech problems they're having might resolve itself, but it does feel like it's on its last legs right now. One of the biggest things I'll miss is convenient access to news. So I'm gonna make a conscious effort to start checking the websites directly from now on, like Anime News Network for anime/manga news and Johnnys Net for HSJ updates. But also I'll be digging around DW to see what fandom things are available. I'm kinda looking forward to it! It'll be like I'm a fandom spelunker... or something
Lastly, I was kindly gifted a paid account here for a year, and I'm very grateful to my friend! I'm going to figure out how to do polls here soon, so look forward to that... as soon as I think of a good question!!
