Weekly summary: Feb. 23 - Mar. 1, 2025

This past week was better than the previous one. It was warmer this week which definitely helped improve my mood. Plus, birthday celebrations cheered me up a bit too. So I think I've successfully staved off that depressive episode for now.
Anyway, fun stuff to share:
I'm saving this NPR link about reducing your screentime which is something I probably should do. (I could focus so much more on writing if I'd stop checking the internet every other paragraph 😂)
It's a helpful reminder for me, if nothing else.
I also posted this week a hodgepodge of rambling about various things here. I really want to make more posts like these...

Ultraman Arc stuff!
Actually, this first link isn't about Arc, but it does involve actors Totsuka Yuki and Kaneta Sho, so I'm sticking it here too. The two did some voice acting work for the Gundam Pavillion (apparetly an attraction you can visit if you're in Japan). Here is a short little video interview with them. No subtitles unfortunately 😒
It's nice to see them working together on another project, even if it was probably just an afternoon of recording lines.
Anyway, back to Arc stuff.
This is a nice interview with series director Tsujimoto Takanori about the series overall. It's in Japanese but Google translate does okay with it. (I wish I had the patience and skill and time to translate all this stuff myself but I don't 😭) I need to add this to my Arc resource post soon.
I posted another fic this week: Within arm's reach which is just some post-canon Yuma/Shu fluff 🥰
I also posted a little snippet of an AU fic for shiritori here. It's a college au where Yuma is on the track team, and I've been having fun planning the story out in my head this week. It'll take me a while to write it all, but maybe I'll share a few more snippets along the way?

Music stuff!
New song from Queen Bee this week: Purple
They're apparently releasing a new album soon

Threw together my March writing goals yesterday. Gonna try for a quiet month and not push myself too hard 🤞
But speaking of writing, I'm super excited about round two of
tokuficathon starting up! The post is here. There's only one prompt I can write so far, but I'm already thinking about it 😁

Watched a few different things recently.
The 2017 Power Rangers movie was briefly back on Tubi (it's gone again now), so I rewatched it while I could. I actually quite enjoy the movie, even more on a rewatch actually. I've probably said this before here but I often find teenagers to be fascinating protagonists because, of course, they don't rationalize things the way adults do. Their actions can be more unpredictable. And I think this version of these familiar characters are compelling here because they're struggling with so many things.
Overall, I just think it's a fun movie... although it has an oddly high number of car crashes in it??
Moving on, I was slow getting to the Jetman episodes (7 & 8) for last week's watchalong, but I watched them yesterday. Episode 7 was hysterical. I loved it 😂 it reminded me of the Megaranger episode where Chisato's grandma comes to visit.
This series continues to be really fun to watch. I'm hoping to actually watch this week's episodes (9 & 10) today!
And lastly, I binge-watched last night a BL j-drama I stumbled across on Tubi: "Mr. Unlucky has no choice but to kiss"
It was silly but really fun! I enjoyed it. Unlike the last BL I watched, this romance made sense and actually had some good emotional moments. The premise is basically some good old-fashioned fake dating (except one of them doesn't know it's fake) but eventually they both fall in love.
I was so distracted by the leads tho because my brain kept making weird associations with other actors 😂 (the main lead looked like Chinen from HSJ to me. I think it was the haircut. And the love interest guy looked to me like a guy version of Kitagawa Keiko. Like... distressingly similar in my head. I think this is because the last thing I saw Keiko in was PGSM and she was a broody teenager back then too 😂)
Anyway, fun show. I may... write a little fic sometime.

Finally, in offline news, I celebrated my birthday on Tuesday! My parents took me to a new restaurant that's recently opened, and we all really enjoyed it. I'll have to go back soon.
All I ask for on my birthday is good food, and I certainly got it this year 🥰
I don't have anything else exciting to share other than that I finally took down my Christmas decorations today 😅 I'm feeling better now, so maybe making a little change in the house is what I needed.
Wishing everyone a lovely week ahead!
