Nov '24 writing goals

alchemicinkOctober sure was a month that happened. Can't believe it's time again for me to come up with another month of writing goals.
Anyway, October's post is here
Let's see how I did with last month's goals.
Not great! 😬😬😬😂
Actually I sort of expected failure this month because there was a lot going on in my offline life and with work, so I couldn't focus too much time on fun writing. I may be a little disappointed with myself, but it's really not a big deal in the grand scheme of things.
1) write something for the Trick or Treat exchange
Failure! I had a lot of ideas for treat fics, but couldn't get my brain in gear to actually do them. I started one that I really liked, but then got more unsure about it halfway through and decided to put it on the backburner instead. Maybe I'll try to finish it next year?
I'm mostly just annoyed because I also could not manage to write a treat for this exchange last year too. I think I should just admit that October is never gonna be a good writing month for me 😅
2) actually write a fic for ladies bingo
Failure! 😠This is the one I'm most disappointed in myself for not doing, especially because I had an idea that could also double as a Halloween fic. (It was an Ongsa/Sun fic from 23.5) But once I started writing it, I didn't like it very much. So I'm gonna have to think on it a little longer before I decide what to do 🤔
3) write that Ultraman Arc fic
Success!! The only one I actually completed 😂 it was just a little double drabble, so it ended up being pretty easy to write once I got started. I'm happy with it!
4) write something for tdbk fantasy week
Failure! Similar to the Trick or Treat exchange, I have ideas for this, but I just couldn't get going. There's still time to work on my ideas tho, so not all hope is lost. I'm just having a really hard time with this particular ship/fandom right now. So we'll see what happens.
And now, some goals for November:
To be honest, I should probably force myself into a short writing break. But I know I won't stick to it lol. So goals this month are gonna be sparse instead.
1) follow the whims and write something that's fun for me :)
I'm not gonna hold myself to anything with a hard deadline in November. Just relax and write whatever my brain wants to fixate on this month. Fic writing is not a job or a chore! I gotta remind myself of that sometimes when I get too focused on things like wanting to bump up my fic count for a certain fandom or hit a certain wordcount or whatever. Those things are usually fun for me, but not when I'm this exhausted.
I'm hoping November will be a nice writing month. (I'll at least get off to a good start this weekend because I don't have to work 🥳) Cheers to everyone else on any of their own writing goals too!
