I had a busy but exciting work week, so that was a nice change of pace from the usual "busy but stressful" work week 🤭 The weather turned rainy for a bit here, but the temperatures have remained nice, so it's been a good transition to Fall so far. (Of course, I'm sure we'll still have some unseasonably warm days off and on until November, but at least it's more tolerable.)

But anyway, enough about the weather. Let's dive in!

Continuing to share the translated Ishido diary entries from Ultraman Arc. Here is the one for episode 9. These continue to be interesting insights into the series from Ishido's perspective. And I look forward to more!

And speaking of Arc, this week's episode (episode 11) was SO GOOD!! No spoilers, but I have watched it multiple times already 😅 It's a two-parter, so I'm really excited to see next week's episode too!

Also, I discovered (by actually reading the credits in the YouTube description, lmao) that Hayashi Yuki is the music composer for this series. He's also the composer for My Hero Academia, so that's a cool connection. I love the bnha soundtrack, so this explains why I'm really loving all the music for Arc too.

Actually had some reading time this week! Here are a few fic recs:

A Yu Yu Hakusho fic featuring Kuwabara and his cat, but also some early pre-relationship Kuwabara/Yusuke.

☆ Also, in the same "just figuring out a teenage crush" kind of story, here is a Star Trek Deep Space Nine fic featuring Jake/Nog. It's very cute

☆ A friend rec'd me this bnha genfic focused on Iida (because she knows how much I love Iida 🥰) I really enjoyed this one! Good mix of humor and heart

Somehow, I also found a little bit of time for writing/editing too this week.

I posted a short ATLA fic (Mai/Ty Lee) for femslashfete. I have a whole list of several wlw ships to write for this series, so this was my first one for these two ladies!

Also, I finally edited and posted the bakuiida fic I've been dabbling with off and on for the past few months. I'm really happy with how it turned out.

I'm hoping to get to write more today. I'm close to finishing a fic for the Tokusatsu Ficathon, and I have at least one more fill I can easily write too. And then I think I'll focus on Ladies Bingo fics and Trick or Treat exchange treats. Or I'll get distracted and write something else 😂 We'll see where the whims take me...

I finished watching Kamen Rider Kuuga and Mirai Sentai Timeranger this week 😭 They were both really good! I'm sad I'm done now (tho I can rewatch any time)

Kuuga truly was an amazingly good show from start to finish! Just a great story and characters all around. I don't have anything meaningful to say about it yet but I'll probably write a separate post about it in the future. (Actually, my main thought after I finished watching was that Ichijo must have ribs of steel since he kept getting thrown around in the last couple episodes 😂 so yeah, I need some time to gather more thoughts)

Also, I take back my complaints about Timeranger because the last 10 or so episodes were really good. The emotional weight finally started to click for me in a way the first half of the series didn't. The series ends up a good mix of hopeful but tragic, which I should have expected, but I was surprised anyway. I wish things had ended differently, but hey, I can always write a fanfic fix-it sometime 😁

Music stuff!

Just one thing this week. Back in the day, I used to follow several johnnys (now Starto) groups, and not just hsj. And NEWS was one of those groups. They've had a wild ride over the years, debuting originally with 9 members and now they currently only have 3 left.

I haven't really cared about anything they've been doing in the last decade, but I really did enjoy a lot of their early discography. So I've been thrilled to discover that they're posting basically ALL their old music videos on YouTube now!

All this to say that I just really enjoy Sayaendou which was a song from a One Piece movie back in 2006! One of my favorite songs ever by this group. The music video is a lot of fun too.

Lastly, the exciting thing about work this week was that I got to attend the annual conference in Raleigh on Thursday. People in the same profession from all over the state attend. It's mostly just an awards banquet more than anything else, but I did get to stay overnight in the hotel before heading back to work on Friday! Oh, and also I won an award too 🥰 this sounds cool, but they give out a ton of awards in a ton of categories and divisions, so it's not too difficult to earn one. But I'm still thrilled every year when I do get one! (I was sick with the gallbladder stuff last year and couldn't attend, so I was happy to return this year and actually get my certificate!)

The food was pretty good too 😁

Anyway, that's all for this week's rambly summary. Wishing everyone a spectacular week ahead!
