Weekly summary: Aug. 4 - Aug. 10, 2024

We had a hurricane roll through this week. Well, it was just a tropical storm by the time it got here, but the main thing is that it rained a lot and the whole week was downright dreary.
A lot of other things also made this a pretty terrible week, but thankfully there were a few highlights too.
Music stuff!
Just the one video this week, but it's a cool one!
Band Maid did a collab with The Warning, a band from Mexico (which I had never heard of before but they seemed cool). The song Show Them, is entirely in English.

Still having a good time with Ultraman Arc and Blazar, but I haven't had a chance yet to write more review posts yet. Soon, I hope!
Right now, I'm trying to enjoy the bonus content with Arc whenever I can. Like, for example, they've been releasing Ishido's "diary entries" on Twitter, which is full of extra tidbits from his character's point of view. But my kanji skills are too rusty (and my patience too thin) to translate them. But thankfully Ultraman Connection has started translating them instead: the first three entries are here. I'm looking forward to more soon!

One fun highlight to the week is that Takaki Yuya, my favorite dude from hsj, has been cast in a new drama! It's been two years since he did a drama, and I thought maybe he'd stick to stage plays from now on, but I'm really excited about this! (Hopefully I'll be able to find it streaming somewhere 👀 but it's a late-night drama, so I won't get my hopes up too much)
Anyway, it's called "Osore" (fear) and it's a horror drama. The gist of it, from what I've read, is that the main character (I've unfortunately forgotten the actress' name already) keeps getting murdered and wakes up as someone else. So it's kind of a gory mystery, I think?
You can watch the trailer for the series here (content note for blood and violence and suicide)

And speaking of horror, my only fic rec this week is this YGO fic featuring Ryou and Yami Bakura. Very fascinating story, but also definitely some horror vibes (please mind the warning in the author's note).
I haven't really been able to read much this week unfortunately. It was one of those weeks where I started reading anything and then closed the tab halfway through. Hopefully I'll be in a better headspace next week.
I did, however, manage to do a little bit of writing!
I wrote a Star Trek SNW Chapel/Ortegas fic for femslashfete.
And I found an old bnha fic I wrote for shiritori back in 2021, so I decided to clean it up and post it to ao3 here. It's my one and only Kirishima/Bakugou fic 😅
Anyway, that's it for this summary. Hopefully this week will be more interesting and with fewer dreary vibes.
Wishing everyone a sunny week ahead!
