Weekly summary: Mar. 19 - Mar. 25, 2023

alchemicinkIt's been one heck of a crazy week in real life, but I also had time to actually read and watch more fun stuff too. (Anything to distract from real life, right? 😂) So it's gonna be a link heavy summary this time. Let's get to it!
We'll start off with music this week!
Garnidelia is promoting their new cover album, so they released two music videos this week! I was unfamiliar with the originals, so I can't compare, but both were not bad to me. (I do sorta prefer when Garnidelia do their own original songs, but presumably they'll be back to that soon!)
(Either way, I think Maria looks lovely 💜)
HSJ's video of the week was another concert snippet. This one was Entertainment from the Parade concert. I've not actually watched that one, so these outfits were a fun surprise for me 😂 Anyway, it's not my favorite song, but Takaki's got a feathery hat, so I feel obligated to share regardless.
My favorite new song of the week, however, is Rejuvenation by Queen Bee. The video doesn't provide an English translation yet, but I assume they'll add it eventually like they have on other songs. But what's really lovely about this music video is that Avu-chan is both singers that appear! I just love that Avu-chan embraces who they are, and isn't afraid to showcase that onscreen. Plus, this song shows off their vocal range so well! (Although I did wonder how will they ever perform this song live??) Anyway, it's really lovely and I think everyone should check the video out!
Moving onto other fandom things, I haven't been able to keep up with this season of My Hero Academia, but I know what's happening by Twitter. The Deku retrieval mini-arc was one of my favorite parts of the manga, so hopefully I'll get to watch the anime version eventually. Anyway, all of this is to say that this fan art of Iida grabbing Deku's hand is awesome. There is also a close-up version too!
Here are a few interesting articles I read this past week:
NPR's Life Kit gathered up several of their past spring cleaning tips into this article. Some of them I'd already read or weren't pertinent for me, but I thought the photo organization one was good! I'm gonna have to try that myself sometime.
Our State magazine, which covers my home state of North Carolina, shared a nice collection of public gardens to visit. I've been to only one on the list actually, so I'm including this list so that maybe I'll remember to plan some day trips for myself sometime! If I had time and money lol (And also, they're nice recommendations if any of you ever happen to visit North Carolina!)
I was browsing Merriam-Webster's website, like a nerd 😁, when I stumbled across this cool post about reduplicative words. I just love weird words that are fun to say! My favorites in this article include jiggery-pokery, flimflam, and skimble-skamble!
Next, I have a bunch of fic recs this time! I've been working my way through the old Planet BNHA collections from previous rounds, and I'm still also reading a bunch of atla fics right now. So here's a few fics that I really enjoyed this week:
Between here and there (todoiida, by ally).
This one was absolutely adorable! Plus, I love this ship but I only rarely find fic for it.
Through the years and far away (bkdk).
Based on Voices of a Distant Star, but knowledge not necessary to read. I felt like I needed to lie on the floor and stare up at the ceiling for a bit after reading it. (This is a good reaction)
Saturn syndrome (zukka)
A really strange horror-ish fic, but also really interesting because it's not the kind of AU you usually stumble across in this fandom. I'm still thinking about it
Turn me loose (zuko & sokka)
Another really interesting AU. I would have gladly read a full 200+k fic of this if it existed. I enjoyed it, but I do strongly caution readers to consider the tag warnings before reading! Some parts could be upsetting.
Maybe I just wanna be yours (sukka)
This one is just really cute! Sometimes you just wanna read something really cute!
Lastly, I've still been watching Denji Sentai Megaranger. I'm up through episode 16 now and really enjoying it! Instead of sticking all my rambling about it here, however, I think I'm going to make a separate post about it sometime. Just so I can include all the screencaps I've been taking too 😁
That's it for this summary! I didn't get to write fic like I wanted to this time, but I'm hoping this upcoming week will provide me more opportunity instead. Wishing everyone a nice and uneventful week!
