This week: 10 Things ends with Tojo's 40th birthday 🥳

Plus: Zeztz is explosively exciting; the Gozyugers do some team building; and Omega has a Bad Time

Overall, a really nice week of episodes! (Heavy spoilers for 10 Things this week)

Kamen Rider Zeztz (episode 2)

Another fun episode! I still find the premise of this series kinda confusing (I may just be stupid) but it's so entertaining too. This week Baku tries to stop a bomber Nightmare and talks with the two paranormal investigators (Fujimi and Nagumo).

Those two have immediately become my favorite characters. Just watching them interact is so fun. (Nagumo being so exasperated is one of my favorite character tropes.) And the gag of them falling into the back of the truck when they climb in is so good to me.

Separately, I really enjoyed the secret spy base place where Baku talked to Zero. It was neat! My favorite part was the wall of clocks 😂

My only complaint so far is that Nem seems superfluous to the plot right now. I don't quite understand her. But it's only been two episodes, so I'm sure things will become clearer as we continue. I'm really looking forward to seeing how the bomber Nightmare plot resolves next week!

Oh, also, some Kamen Riding for the Kamen Rider this week! I loved that!!

Gozyuger (episode 30)

I was worried I wouldn't like this episode, but it wasn't half bad at all! This episode didn't feel like it had five different plots crammed into one, so that really elevated it compared to the last few episodes.

It was simple. An introduction to the guy who now has the Tyranno ring, and a No One battle featuring mochi. The team wonders briefly if they shouldn't be wasting time on these extra monster battles, but in the end, decide that it's better to help people out by doing them. It was a nice message and it shows why the Gozyuger team is set apart from the other Universe Warriors. (This all reminded me of Osai from episode 7)

The new Tyranno guy was kinda annoying to me, so I can't say I was too sad to see him go at the end of the episode. But I'm thrilled about getting Ryuugi back next episode 👀 (so soon?? 😍) And I did appreciate that the others acknowledged that they missed him in this episode, and recognized how they've all come to enjoy spending time together. I'm excited to see how things play out now. (I'll admit I was maybe too harsh on episode 29!)

Lastly, the edited opening credits to hide Ryuugi was really funny to me 😂 this show is so silly

10 Things... (episode 12) (final episode!)

I can't believe it's over 😭 but it really was a good satisfying ending to me!

The episode starts with the day before Christmas Eve (and the day before Tojo's 40th birthday). He's been trying to delete the list and move on from his feelings for Keishi, but he can't. Even when he actually deletes the list, the memories and feelings remain. It's enough to finally give Tojo the resolve to reach for what he wants and get back together with Keishi.

I really loved the confession scene. The two of them are out in public, having this important conversation under the glow of Christmas lights. And it's just so lovely to realize that they've gotten to the point where they want to move forward together, no matter the consequences. I had worried that the resolution in this final episode would be rushed, but to me personally, it worked. Especially because we got that follow up scene with the Christmas cake/birthday cake at Tojo's apartment.

Overall, I really loved this series and definitely want to rewatch it a few more times. The characters were so well-written and well-acted that I've been thinking about them a lot, even when they're not on my screen.

(Yes, I may even write fanfic 🤭)

Ultraman Omega (episode 11)

This episode was so good!

I know I had issues with the show during the beginning, but these past few episodes have really hit for me. Like I've said before, it's the relationship between Sorato and Kosei that interests me the most. In this episode, Kosei's insecurity comes roaring back, and he wants to charge ahead to face the kaiju just to prove he's useful. All the previous episodes have laid the groundwork for how he feels, so it makes sense. Considering the reality check he gets by the end of the episode, I'm really curious to see how he'll react going forward.

Meanwhile, Sorato has a bad feeling about everything, and he's proven right when he gets injured and then defeated by the new bad kaiju who shows up. (Also, just as a sidenote, I really enjoy whump, and seeing Sorato be put through the wringer in the episode is another reason I liked it 😅)

There was also a sideplot with Ayu-nee and the newly-formed defense team, but I'm not very invested in that part of the story yet. (I still need the boys to tell Ayu-nee what's going on first!!)

I'm very excited to see how this two-parter resolves next week!

I'm thinking about adding a new show into the mix next week. Not 100 percent sure what yet, but I'd like to have something else that isn't tokusatsu to include here too.
