Weekly summary: May 14 - May 20, 2023

alchemicinkHad some ups and downs this week, but now that I'm putting together this week's summary, I really only remember the ups! That's why I like writing this every week.
Let's talk about stuff~
I mentioned last week that I started rewatching Ouran High School Host Club. It's just as hilariously entertaining as I remembered. The series has a lot of fun running gags (my favorite bit of comedy tbh), and Tamaki sulking in a corner is the funniest one to me. So I've been documenting every moment of that in this tweet thread.
This week's Ousasa episode: it featured Nitta family drama, Tougou in Stealth Mode, and the reveal that Kamiyama isn't as sweet and innocent as he seems. Oh no!! It was quite a good episode on the romance front, because there are a lot of genuinely nice moments between Tougou and Ayaka, and you think "Ah they're finally falling in love" but then they get in a fight at the end of the episode which ruins all their progress. We still have five more episodes to go after all!
Music videos for the week:
HSJ released a dance practice video for Dear My Lover (I mentioned the music video last week). Dance practice videos are always fun because you get to enjoy the choreography in full, and also get to look at everyone's style. (So, of course, I was watching Takaki "jazz hands" Yuya the whole time 😂)
BiSH released a live performance of Promise the Star from a concert last year. I really love this group, but ever since they announced they were disbanding, I haven't been able to engage as much with their stuff. But this is one of my favorite BiSH songs of all time and this performance is lovely, so it's worth a watch.
Queen Bee, which I've mentioned several times before, released their music video for Mephisto (which is being used as the ending theme for Oshi no Ko. I haven't watched the anime but I googled what it was about, and boy... it is weird.) Anyway, as usual, the song is great and the music video is unsettling. Please note there's extreme violence and blood if you watch this one!
Moving on to something nicer, here's a pretty fan art of Mina Ashido. I just love her character design so much!
Moving onto the fic portion of this summary, I've been digging through fics for the 2017 Power Rangers movie this week. (I watched the movie on a whim last Sunday and actually enjoyed it)
This Kim-centric one is quite good (but mind the tag warnings), and I also really liked this Zack-centric time loop fic too.
Both fics really scratched the itch I had for fic after watching the movie, so I should be back to my regular fandoms soon lol
In real life, non-fandom updates, I had a good cooking week! I tried a few new recipes which all turned out better than expected.
The recipe I enjoyed the most was this cabbage pasta. (Of course, I made some ingredient substitutions as I usually do lol. You can't get Napa cabbage where I live, and sausage works just as well as bacon)
And a garden update: it's been two weeks and everything is looking good so far! Well... except for the eggplant which hasn't come up at all 😩 maybe I'll be able to find some replacement seedlings soon. Otherwise... no eggplant for me this year!
