Challenge #14
In your own space, create your own fandom challenge.



A relatively simple challenge: please read/write/draw/etc something with a woman as the main focus this year.

If you're not sure where to start, here are just a few places to use as a springboard: halfamoon which runs Feb 1-Feb 14 for a variety of women-centric works and recs, femslashfete which is a weekly prompt community for femslash pairings, ladiesbingo which annually runs from Sept through March, and rarefemslashexchange a multi-fandom exchange which will reveal works in February.

For the record, this is an ongoing challenge for myself as well! (I... still need to start on my ladies bingo card 😅)

halfamoon sounds so interesting, but it seems as if I am much too busy with running my communities and participating in some others already. Sigh... let us blame RL; it just takes too much time.

I've written some threesentenceficathon fills with women as the focus. I also wrote this Edelgard/Dorothea fic as a gift for fandomtrees.

I will also be getting back to ladiesbingo very soon.

...Any suggestions for someone who only ever writes about women and might need a hard mode? :) Jokes aside, an excellent challenge idea. I'm already scribbling away at some ideas for the upcoming halfamoon and I second femslashfete as a lovely comm to participate in, though I don't know if this week's prompt will spark anything from me this time, hah.

Wish I had suggestions for hard mode 🤭 (I'm always stuck with "which ladies should I write about when I have so many choices?" which feels like a challenge in itself lol)

I've been thinking about this week's femslashfete prompt too, and all I've come up with so far is basketball net 😂 so I might write something or not! Good luck to you too!

Hehe, that's alright, I was just being funny. I suppose sometimes it's the ladies who choose us! At least my own brain has been half-consumed by a little handful of women, lol.

This is an ongoing activity of mine too, and indeed, my challenge is about filling gaps in canon of which one is a shortage of female characters. So thanks for posting your challenge!

Filling in canon gaps is an awesome challenge. There are plenty of fandoms I think where adding more spotlight on ladies would be great.

Yeah, I'll just about try a show for having a more diverse cast. One reason I like Dragon Prince is that it has lots of exciting female characters, people of different colors, disability, queers -- even intersectionality.

Lmao, not me actively doing the first three (no, really, I am currently writing my tenth ladiesbingo fic, I'm aiming for a blackout like I always do) and only not doing the fourth because I don't do exchanges (I am reading happily in it every year though and I have nominated my blorbos if anyone wants to take the bait). So, yes, I'm exceeding in this challenge already, seeing as a friend challenged me to post one fic or chapter a day to AO3 for the whole year and I only ever write about women. :D (Meaning, this year, I've already written 68k words all about women and my AO3 already has 149k words cause I carried some over from last year). So, yes, I am doing my part, lmao.

Go get that ladiesbingo card! I love that bingo so much, I've been participating in it since round 2 (we're in round 12 now, meaning it's been going for 12 years! Though I did take a break in between and didn't do rounds 5-7). It's always such a fun challenge and they do offer fake internet points for completion of a bingo!

Woah, that's so many words for the year already!! I definitely think you've fulfilled this challenge quite well 😁🥰 I didn't sign up for the rare femslash exchange either, but I'm looking forward to reading through this year's collection!

I wanna win some fake internet points for ladiesbingo! I was ill the first year I signed up, so I ended up not doing any of my card that time. (And then I got stuck in "I have too many ladies to write about and can't choose" 😂) So I'm hoping to have better luck this year. Hopefully time doesn't slip away too fast. Good luck with your bingo blackout attempt!

I have done the thing, but it won't be revealed for some time yet, because the relevant exchange hasn't had reveals yet. Even so, I'm sure there will be other opportunities all throughout the year.
