Challenge #4
Since this is the start of a new year, this challenge will be to set your own goals! Of course we can all make large or ambitious goals, remember that small and/or short goals are also good!

I'll share a few fannish goals and some for my offline life as well. Feel free to hold me accountable! 🤭
Fannish goals
☆ write longer fics again! I'll still do short ficlets and drabbles, of course, but I'd love to write more than one fic longer than 5k words this year. This is a challenge in improving my concentration and focus!!
☆ participate in more fic writing events. I already do several, but there are a few more I'm interested in. (Will this be the year I finally finish something for Trick or Treat??) Joining exchanges and challenges makes me feel more like I'm a part of a fan community
☆ make some new fandom friends. I'm so bad at this (thanks, social anxiety!) but I'm gonna keep making an effort to meet new people 🥰
☆ watch more Thai dramas and get back into watching Japanese dramas. I just wanna explore some new things (and I keep forgetting I have Viki and can watch j-dramas there lol)
Offline goals
☆ finally take my trip to the aquarium!! I have been trying to do this for like three years now and things keep getting in the way. I'm only a two-hour drive away, so theoretically, it shouldn't be too hard to accomplish. I love aquariums and it's been so long since I last visited this one
☆ expand my garden. Last year's attempt at container gardening was great, so I'd like to expand it a little this year to include more veggies. I'll still do the tomatoes, eggplant, and peppers like usual, but I want to add back squash again and maybe okra?? (Note to self: find new eggplant recipes BEFORE you have an over-abundance of eggplant this year)
☆ get out of the house more! It's so tempting to just stay inside every weekend, but I do want to be a part of my local community more. Not just for work, but for fun stuff too.
Knowing me, I'll probably forget about all of these goals by next week and/or come up with five new ones. But I love to-do lists, so maybe writing all this down will be helpful in some small way.
("How'd you do with last year's goals, Holly?" Haha, don't ask. I don't remember)

Date: 2025-01-08 05:06 am (UTC)What do you look for in your dramas or what are a few favourites of yours?
...and I have a minor obsession with eggplant, so I have a bunch of recipes for it kicking around in my to-make pile: Mutabbal; Eggplant Caviar; Steamed Eggplant, Hunan Style; Yu Xiang Qie Zi; Sicilian Eggplant and Pine Nut Caponata.

Date: 2025-01-08 05:39 pm (UTC)I'm really new to Thai dramas, so I've only seen 23.5 (which I enjoyed). But I used to watch a lot of j-dramas about a decade ago. I tend to like silly comedies (or rom-coms) or school-focused ones. Mysteries are good too. I loved Gokusen and My Boss, My Hero. And I recently did a rewatch of Hana Kimi (which was still really entertaining!)
Thank you for the eggplant recipes!! I'm saving them all to try out this summer 🥰

Date: 2025-01-09 03:45 am (UTC)Hope you find a few and enjoy! My Boss, My Hero is probably my all-time favorite. It's about a yakuza boss' son who never graduated. But his dad says he has get his diploma if he wants to take over the family business. Cue silly shenanigans as he pretends to be a high school student again 😁
