Weekly summary: Dec. 15 - Dec. 21, 2024

alchemicinkI stayed up way too late last night hanging out with my brother, and I'm paying for it today 😂 (I had lunch at 3pm, for example)
I miss my college days when staying up late had few consequences 😂
Anyway, here's the weekly summary:
Starting off with lots of Ultraman Arc rambling!
Firstly, Ishido's diary for episode 21. I feel like this is the most diary-like entry of all. There's a whole section of it where Ishido is just brainstorming a mystery novel starring him and Yuma 😂 It's really fun.
(I am gonna have to write a detective AU for them sometime, aren't I?)
They also released a trailer for the Ultraman Arc movie this week! It's available on YouTube with English subs here. And here's more info about the movie and characters who will appear. It's cool if you like knowing things ahead of time, but I kinda wish I hadn't read it 😅
But I'm sure it'll be a hundred million years before I get to watch the movie, so maybe I'll forget all the details before then.
And finally, episode 23 this week! What an episode!! I will not spoil things (I'll eventually get back to recap/review posts) but the actors for both Yuma and Ishido gave absolutely stellar performances in this episode. I've already rewatched it a couple of times lol.
It's so cruel that there's no episode next week and the following is another recap 😠I'm really excited for the final two episodes even though I don't want the series to be over.
Also, I wrote some Arc fic this week, but I'll link that later in this post.

Just like Ryuki, Kamen Rider Kuuga is now also available on YouTube. Playlist here. Also like Ryuki, it's probably unfortunately region-locked to the United States. (I hate region-locking 😡)
Unfortunately, I'm having a hard time with the YouTube subtitles for the onscreen text, so I'll probably just continue to rewatch on Tubi instead. But I still wanted to spread the word just in case!

bnha_fans, the bnha manga's spinoff series Vigilantes is getting an anime adaptation in April. I never got to read the series, and I unfortunately probably won't get a chance to watch the anime, but I'm glad they're making it! It's nice to see side stories get attention too. BNHA is a fun universe to explore, tbh.

Music stuff
Okay, this first thing isn't a music video but it's related to an old music video, so it counts!
I read this article from ANN earlier this week about TMR recreating his iconic outfit from his Hot Limit music video all these years later 😂 I don't know how to explain to y'all how funny this is, but trust me, I'm cackling.
In other news, Matenrou Opera is back with new song Blood from their new album. The song didn't blow me away, but I'm just always happy to see old visual kei favorites still committed to visual kei vibes.

Lastly, writing stuff!
As mentioned earlier, I wrote a new Ultraman Arc fic this week: On my mind (Yuma/Shu)
I originally wrote it for my turn over atwritetomyheart, so you can also read it crossposted there as well.
I've been writing a lot this week actually! I had several ideas fortokuholidayspecials treats, so I was focused on that. I'm done now tho! If I have the chance to write as much this week, I'll shift my focus to some little ficlets for femslashfete
I'm really close to 300 fics on ao3, so I think that's really cool.
And that's it for this week's summary! I have to wrap Christmas presents this evening 😩 but maybe I'll find something fun to watch as I go.

Date: 2024-12-23 08:13 am (UTC)It really is! :D Imo that's why it got so popular, there are so many directions fanworks can take and explore, and quirks are nearly like magic in their variety too which gives even more flexibility :) I hope Crunchyroll is able to pick up the Vigilantes anime or it'll be quite hard for me to watch it too.
