I blinked and another week flew by. This was the week leading up to my birthday! But work was extra busy, so I didn't even get to do much leading up to Saturday. Oh well, such is life.

Here are a few short highlights from this past week!

Chapter 380 of My Hero Academia was pretty entertaining to me. I'm just really enjoying "the calvary is arriving" vibes from the most recent chapters, and this one brings back some of my favorite minor characters (Inasa and Camie). There's a hilarious gag in this chapter where Camie's slang is so incomprehensible that even the author's notes give up on trying to explain 😂 Relatable, because I, too, often have no idea what the kid's are saying these days.

Another fun thing: Last Sunday, I dropped by my parents house to watch the NC State vs UNC basketball rematch on TV. It was a great game to watch! The score was pretty close the whole time, but NC State went on a good run in the last few minutes to seal the win.

I'll get back to basketball later in this summary, but for a less entertaining game 😅

Next up, I listened to another Braving the Elements episode while doing a bit of cooking. This one was a recap for the "Lake Laogai" episode, and I definitely laughed a lot listening to this one. I always go into a recap episode thinking it might be a little bit boring because I already know what happens, but it never seems to disappoint. (Dante always being a Jet stan is hilarious too)

In music news, Johnnys has apparently decided to continue randomly adding old Hey!Say!JUMP music videos to YouTube?? So this week, we got the AinoArika pv, which is a single they released back in... *checks notes* 2014!

The song was the theme for a late-night drama (Dark System) that Hikaru was starring in at the time, so he gets a decent amount of screentime and lines in this video. He also wrote the lyrics for the absurd rap bridge section of the song! (I remember when this song first came out and the rap section made me reflexively cringe EVERY TIME because it's so weird and out of place. But dangit, I can listen now and barely even notice it 😅)

Anyway, as for the music video, it's pretty. But it's never been my favorite. (They're all holding carnations in the video which I've always personally associated with funerals instead of romance 😅 I can't get over my personal cognitive dissonance here lmao). The best visual thing in this video is actually the pipe organ pipes in the background! I wish the music included that. I wanna hear what they sound like 😂 but the orchestra accompaniment was pretty cool too tho!

Speaking of YouTube videos, sometimes when work turns my brain to soup, I like to zone out watching people making pretty desserts. Here's a pretty strawberry cheesecake one I watched this week. Look at that lovely color gradient!

One of the best parts of the week was receiving two gift fics from the Planet BNHA exchange! Both were extremely lovely to read, and both were actually garden-themed! It's been unseasonably warm here recently and I've been thinking about gardening a lot lately, so I think it's cool that it popped up in the fics as well!

Please check out both of the fics if you can!
Plant one on me (ochamina)
To Plant, To Grow (bakukami)

Gardening fics also reminded me that I have a garden-themed YYH fic in my WIPs too. Hopefully I'll get around to finishing it by the summer~

Lastly, as mentioned earlier, Saturday was my birthday! To celebrate, I convinced my brother to take me to Raleigh to attend the NC State basketball game. This match-up was against Clemson (boooooo 👎) and unfortunately, our team did not win. Clemson was having an extremely lucky day Saturday and just could not miss shots! So it was disappointing to watch our team lose, but I still had a good time anyway! It's always hilarious to watch basketball with Kinchen and the experience of getting to watch a game in person is a special kind of fun. We wrapped things up with dinner with my parents too. It was a good day!

This coming week is an off week for all my usual work meetings, so I think I will finally FINALLY be able to rest a bit, and get back to more fun stuff. Wishing everyone a good week ahead as we push our way through to March! (Wait, March already?!)
