Weekly summary: Sept. 17 - Sept. 23, 2023

I had a rough start to the week, but then I started feeling better again, so hopefully it stays that way. In other news, we had a tropical storm move through on Friday and Saturday and it dumped about 5 inches of rain here. But it's been dry lately, so the rain was welcome.
Anyway, here are a few interesting things from the past week:
HSJ's video this week is an old concert performance of Chikutaku. I really enjoy this song, even though my least favorite singer in the group has a lot of solo lines. I also enjoy their incredibly sparkly outfits here too. I love when the costume designers go for "world's most sparkly lounge singer" vibes. Classic!
Speaking of concert performances, Nemophilia shared a song from one of their recent ones this week. I'm not sure I've heard the original version of Change the World, but I definitely enjoyed this live version. The guitar solos are fantastic. I should probably learn the names of everyone in this band eventually... lol
***
I read this interesting article from ANN about the production of the Digimon dub.
Digimon was one of the first anime I ever watched as a kid, long before I ever knew what anime was. So reading this made me feel nostalgic, and it's full of some nice tidbits I didn't know before.
Definitely made me want to rewatch the series again! Maybe I can get my hands on it eventually.
***
As predicted last week, I've totally stalled in my Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood rewatch with about 10 episodes left. Why am I like this??
(Maybe it's because the pacing of the Promised Day arc is wonky because there are so many things happening at the same time?)
But circling back to the parts I have recently rewatched, I have to say, I really enjoy everything from the Briggs arc to the beginning of the Promised Day. It's so exciting to see the conspiracy uncovered and everyone starting to make plans for what's about to go down. I just think that span of episodes has a lot more time for character moments and development, which I enjoy the most.
I will hopefully manage to finish the series this week, and then I think I'll write a fun "series superlatives" post as a way to look back at all my favorite moments.
***
I made a short little pirate fic rambling post since it was Talk Like a Pirate Day earlier this week.
And I also finally signed up for Ladies Bingo! You can see my card here. I'm very excited about all the possibilities! Though I think I will try to focus on some Halloween fics first before I get started on this.
(Well, hopefully I'm able to get back in the groove of writing again...)
***
That's it for this summary! I have another doctor's appointment tomorrow - this time with a specialist - so maybe we'll finally figure things out. I'm looking forward to it even though I have to drive two hours to get there. But on the bright side, it gets me out of work for the day.
Wishing everyone a wonderful week ahead!
