Weekly summary: Aug. 13 - Aug. 19, 2023
Aug. 20th, 2023 02:39 pmWell, this is gonna be a shorter summary than usual because I have been dealing with a health issue the last half of the week. So my plans of writing several things this past week got derailed π©
Anyway, here's a few fun things at least!
I'm currently 22 episodes into Kamen Rider Kuuga and 20 episodes into Mirai Sentai Timeranger. My plan was to write a standalone post on my thoughts so far, but I wasn't able to do that yesterday. So I'll just stick a few brief thoughts here.
Right now, I find Kuuga to be much more engaging than Timeranger. Perhaps it's because Kuuga is a little more serialized and has a bit more lore to entice me with. Timeranger has just been sort of hit or miss so far, and I think itβs because the team doesn't really click with me the way Megaranger did. But I do feel like the series is starting to hit its stride now, so maybe it'll keep getting better.
Both series, however, definitely have moments that make me laugh! And that's all I really ask for from any show.
Hopefully I'll be able to write a more in-depth post later. I haven't even touched on my thoughts about location shooting and monster design and whatever extremely gay thing Godai and Ichijo have going on in Kuuga π

Just one song to share this week. HSJ has been sharing concert performances lately, and here's another one from their 2018 tour. The title translates to "Queen Bee" and the song is described as "jazzy." (Not entirely sold on that description but whatever lol). I mostly enjoy this one because I enjoy whenever we get to see Hikaru playing bass, and Takaki gets to sing the opening line of the song.

Lastly, I have started listening to a few Star Trek podcasts (because I'm still waiting for Braving the Elements to come back... if it ever does). I've listened to two episodes of Trek Ranks so far, and have enjoyed it. The host and guests basically take a topic and pick their top 5 moments from any Star Trek series and movie that fit that theme. It's a lot of fun to listen to what things come up with each topic. I've started with the most recent episodes and decided to work backwards from there.
And the other podcast I started was the Delta Flyers, which is a Voyager rewatch podcast hosted by Garrett Wang and Robert Duncan McNeil, who played Harry Kim and Tom Paris on the show itself. Unlike Trek Ranks, I started with the first episode for this one, of course. Anyway, it was helpful for me to listen to Friday night when I couldn't sleep.
That's all I've got for this week! Fingers crossed for a better week ahead for everyone!
