Weekly summary: July 28 - Aug 3, 2024
Welcome to August! Somehow it feels like the year just started but also this has been the longest summer ever 😂 weird
Anyway, a few things to share today:
Two FMAB fic recs that were so good that I couldn't read anything else this week! It's a two-part series, though they are mostly unconnected from each other that you could read either as a standalone.
☆ groundwork days (Breda/Havoc) (really enjoyed the characterization of both of them here)
☆ even the nameless (Scar-centric) (really just the best character study for Scar I've ever read; I forgot he does so much offscreen during the series)

I put together my monthly writing goals post earlier this week. Gonna try to take a bit of a break even though I'm very bad at sticking to that 😂
But also, I'm feeling very unmotivated to write again anyway because I crossposted an atla fic yesterday and it's got a grand total of 4 hits so far. It's a rarepair, I know, but geez. If no one's gonna read any of this, I feel like why should I bother to post anything anymore? I miss when engagement was better on ao3

But enough of me whining! What I'm really enjoying lately is Ultraman!
I posted my reviews of Blazar episodes 11-15 and Arc episodes 3-4 recently.
And episode 5 of Arc was really good! I may or may not have already watched it twice since Friday 😂
Thanks to Twitter, I also stumbled across some fun YouTube videos of the cast doing a fun exercise dance to the opening song. It's for kids but I find it very entertaining 😂
Yuma & Youpi walk you through the dance steps here. And Ishido does the dance himself here. Kudos to the actor for doing it in a full business suit 😂

Music stuff!
Finally some new stuff after a few relatively quiet weeks.
☆ Unlucky Morpheus: Sekai Rinne (I like the song but this band is committed to making music videos that I physically cannot watch)
☆ Lovebites: Unchained (I'm not always sold on the vocals for this band, but I always love the music)
☆ Aina the End: Love Sick (this is quintessential Aina. She did some of the choreo too, which isn't surprising)
☆ Nemophilia: G.O.D. (even after one of their guitarists left earlier this year, they've still got it)
And that's it! It was a very uneventful week for me irl, so I don't really have anything else to share.
