Weekly summary: Mar. 31 - Apr. 6, 2024

Every week I'm like "surely work will settle down to its usual pace again" and every week that does not happen 😩

So this is a short-ish summary because I didn't get to do a lot other than zone out looking at fan art on Twitter.

I didn't get to do any fic writing this week (except for a tiny bit of my hanami project yesterday), but I did post my monthly writing goals here. I'm not off to a great start this month but there's plenty of time to turn things around.

Also, I signed up for Seasons Of Drabbles, so I'm excited for that. Signups close in a few hours, btw

And only one fic rec this week: this YGO pride & prejudice AU featuring prideshipping (Atem/Seto). I love any regency era AUs just because everyone talks so pretentious, and that's really funny to me 😂 (this fic also has some gorgeous art)

Music stuff!

Well, Okamoto Keito, formerly of hsj, is not doing music anymore, but I'm sticking him in this section anyway. His birthday is at the beginning of April, and to celebrate this year, he apparently has his own website now 😁 good for him!

Check it out here! I've had trouble keeping up with him since he left the group to focus on acting, so this is a nice way to keep an eye on what he's doing these days.

Speaking of hsj, here's another one of my favorite music videos: Maewomuke. It's just really funny and relatable. Plus, it's Mercury retrograde right now, so it's the perfect time to watch this 😁

In other music stuff, YouTube rec'd me a Superfly song she released a few months ago. The algorithm is slacking. But better late than never. Ashes is a good song and an interesting music video.

I watched a few things this weekend, but my brain is too tired for any sort of intelligent commentary about them. So this will be a brief mention of everything.

I finally finished the last two episodes of my Ouran High School Host Club rewatch. (Just as lovely as I remembered). I watched the live action Gintama movie on a whim, even though I've never read/watched the manga/anime. It was a really fun movie tho! I enjoyed the humor. And I watched the new episode of 23.5, but I was not mentally prepared for the angst, and it just made me sad. I hate when characters don't communicate and you just wanna grab their shoulders and shake some sense into them 🙄 (I mean, the difficulty in communication is relatable... but still frustrating to watch)

Lastly, I watched more basketball. But the fun run to the championship game has ended. My ladies team lost Friday night, and the men lost on Saturday. But it was a good time while it lasted! Both teams making it to the Final Four is an amazing accomplishment, so I'm satisfied with that 🥳🥰

I miss basketball season when it's done each year, but November will be here before we know it. So the wait for next season won't be too bad.

And that's it for this week's summary. Still hoping to be more active around here this week, but I have another magazine deadline for work, so... we'll see how it goes 😭

Wishing everyone a safe week ahead!

I signed up for Seasons of Drabbles too! :D This is my first time getting a chance to do that event, so I'm excited.

I didn't know there was a Gintama live action movie! I saw most of the anime (still need to see the newer seasons they did after a point, because when I saw it I saw everything there was to see) and it was such a fun time too. I'll have to check out that live action sometime.

Thank you so much!! 💕 I hope you have a good time this round too!

Ohh that's good to know it's on Tubi! I'll definitely have to check it out sometime. 😊 Somehow the news of a live action completely slipped past me.

Enjoy SoD! And I also warmly recommend the Gintama live-action, it is a TON of fun :D I saw it with a friend who also knows the anime/manga well (unlike me!) and she had a blast as well.

I LOVED THE TWO GINTAMA LIVE-ACTION MOVIES they are so good!! I also didn't really know much about the series at all, and I am SO IMPRESSED with how they managed to keep the manga-like humour and goofiness and have it work!! An absolute delight. Glad you enjoyed it too :D I didn't like the second one as much though it's also very good! I think the storyline just resonated a bit less with me personally.
