Weekly summary: July 7 - July 13, 2024

I hung out with my brother last night (we were watching Yu Yu Hakusho, among other things) and I didn't get home until 2 a.m. 😅 so I had a really slow start today. Some days I miss my college-aged self who could stay up late AND THEN wake up early the next day too lol

But those days are behind me now 😂 anyway, we've got the more recent past (last week) to talk about instead:

I'm all in on Ultraman at the moment. I got to watch episode 2 of Arc on Friday, and it was just as fun as the premiere. I really think I'm going to enjoy this series! I'm gonna write up my thoughts on the first two episodes this week when I get a chance, but the overall consensus right now is simply "fun!"

I shared some Arc fanart recs here over on tokurecs. I've seen a bit while more browsing around Twitter recently, so I'll probably make another post there soon!

And speaking of Ultraman, I've also been watching Blazar, and I wrote up my thoughts on episodes 1-5 here. I can't wait to watch more this week.

All this toku lately is really making me want to go back to finish Kamen Rider Kuuga and Mirai Sentai Timeranger sooooon! I'm still deciding tho whether I should pick up where I left off last year, or start again from the beginning 🤔

I thought I would be busier with work, but actually I had some time to write a little bit of fun stuff this week. I'm making progress on my pod_together fic! I was having some issues with the tone (it's supposed to be a humorous fic), but I think I've finally cleared that up. More progress this week I hope. I want to meet the early deadline this year! (I say this every year, but maybe it'll happen this time lol)

I also wrote a little SG-1 ficlet for femslashfete this week. It was my first time writing Sam/Janet even though I've been thinking about that ship for years. I love them ♡

I almost forgot it was my shiritori turn this week, so I hastily wrote the beginning of a sulemio (G-witch) fic. I'll get back to working on it again eventually.

I also made a post about my "top 3s" on AO3 here. Just for fun! It'll be nice to have this record to compare with later and see how it changes.

I've been very productive with writing lately, but I know burnout is lurking. So I've gotta be careful not to get too carried away with all this writing. I keep telling myself I'm gonna take a break in August, but we'll see how that goes 😅

I decided to sign up for fandomgiftbasket after all. I'll link mine whenever it gets posted. I've gotta browse through the requests sometime and start working on gifts 👀

I read a few more Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood fics this week when I had a little bit of free time. Here are my recs, which are all genfic-focused this time:

☆ A post-canon fic about the Armstrong siblings (well, just Alex and Olivier really)

☆ Cute pre-canon holiday fluff featuring the Elric brothers and Team Mustang

☆ A post-canon character study of Al with some adorable baby birds

☆ A little fic focused on Al & Winry

I finally have my FMAB to-read list back down under 100 fics again, so maybe I'll hop over to reading a different fandom next week.

And that's really all I have for this summary. It's gonna be another hot week here, so I'll be inside doing as much reading and writing as I can. Wishing everyone a lovely week ahead!
