Weekly summary: June 16 - June 22, 2024
I blinked and another week passed by. The weather is getting absurdly hot here now, so I'm trying to stay cool and hydrated. I have still managed to walk a bit outside around sunset each night though, which is nice!
After complaining recently that I wouldn't be able to watch Star Trek Prodigy, I did actually have an opportunity to watch the first seven episodes this week! (Thanks to my brother who invited me over to his house and then promptly took a nap, leaving me with access to the remote and Netflix 😂)
Anyway, Prodigy is a lot of fun! It's geared towards kids, of course, so I find the plots a bit predictable (at least in these first few episodes I watched) but I absolutely love the characters. It's a great range of different personalities and character designs. Plus, as a big Voyager fan, I appreciate Hologram Janeway! (One of my favorite parts was in episode 5, I think, where she's like "what would the real Janeway do? Clean house!" Because that's exactly right!!)
I don't know if I'll get to watch more episodes any time soon, but I'm glad I got a glimpse at least. If you have/know kids you want to introduce to Star Trek, this is really a good entry point.

Fic recs for the week! I didn't get a chance to read much, but here are a few things:
A friend of mine gifted me this really fun bnha fic featuring pining!Bakugou who is really funny 😁 the ship is todobaku with a side of Todoroki & Shinsou friendship.
A few more FMAB recs:
☆ A fun college AU featuring multiple ships and tons of chaos.
☆ Team Mustang searches for a missing Black Hayate (with some background Royai)
☆ A Greed Lives AU in which he returns to Xing to meet Ling's son

I'm still getting a surprising amount of writing done lately. (Burnout is surely approaching soon 😅) But I'll enjoy it while it lasts. (I'm starting on my pod_together fic this week!)
I made a post earlier today about my intoabar fic (and included a rec there too)
And I wrote another fic for femslashfete this week. This time it was Yuetara (from atla). I'm having a good time coming up with different AUs for this ship (since writing them in canonverse is extremely difficult... haha)

Lastly, I wrapped up my season one rewatch of Gundam IBO last night. I saw someone once describe the series as "season one: the rise of Tekkadan" and "season two: the fall of Tekkadan" and I think that's really a great description. Despite all the hardship the characters face, season one ends on a very hopeful note. And I really resonate with that.
I wish I could gather my thoughts into something more coherent and meaningful about why I love this series so much, but it's Sunday afternoon and I'm very head empty.
I'm definitely going to do more rewatches though, so maybe I'll be able to say more in the future! If nothing else, I'm definitely writing some fic 😁
