Weekly summary: Feb. 25 - Mar. 3, 2024

March has arrived, and so has (temporarily) nicer weather. Maybe I will take a walk later today?

But first, the weekly summary:

My friend gifted me a lovely FMAB royai fic for my birthday! It's really sweet and I definitely recommend it!!

Music stuff! Compared to the previous week, which was really quiet, I have much more to share this time.

Jill, the violinist from Unlucky Morpheus, teamed up with another violinist, Saori (I'm not familiar with her), as a duo called Tonerico for this new song: jinXnij (if you're wondering "what the heck's up with that title?" It's the word "jinx" as a palindrome. Idk why tho πŸ˜‚)

In a bit of nostalgia, YouTube rec'd me this old Kalafina song: Lacrimosa. The group broke up years ago, but I still really enjoy this song

Miorine's voice actress from G-witch, Lynn, did a nice cover of Shukufuku (the G-witch opening originally by yoasobi). She did a great job! It reminded me that I desperately want voice actors to start doing character songs again 😭

As mentioned last week, here's another song from Gacharic Spin's new EP: Let it Beat. I feel like this song will grow on me eventually, but I did like that the music video was in the Shibuya Scramble. (Mostly bc I could see the Tsutaya in the background that I've been to before πŸ˜‚)

And here's a new PV from Garnidelia: neko no shiro from their most recent album. Fun song! But I wish Miume and 217 had been the backing dancers

For my shiritori turn this time, I wrote a little snippet of a tdbk fic idea that's been hanging out in my head awhile (though it’s only Todoroki and Kaminari in this bit). You can read the post here at [community profile] writetomyheart. By the way, we're in reshuffle mode right now, so it's a good time for new people to hop in if they're interested. I'm not a mod, but I have been participating since 2015-ish, so I can answer questions if anyone's interested!

Other things I posted this past week:

β˜† my Netflix atla review (contains spoilers)

β˜† my March writing goals

We finally got some renewal news for Miss Scarlet and the Duke...... and it's a mix of good and bad.

The good: season five is a go!

The bad: Stuart Martin (who plays William Wellington... aka "The Duke") is not coming back to the show. So they're changing the show name to simply "Miss Scarlet"

I have some mixed feelings about this, because on the one hand, I did really enjoy the relationship between Eliza and William. But on the other hand, I'm still looking forward to seeing Eliza solve more mysteries in the future. And the rest of the main cast from last season is already signed on to return. (Even Patrick Nash, who I thought might be written off!)

So really, this feels more like season four was the series finale. And this will be basically like a spinoff. But I guess that’s all semantics at this point.

I'm sure I'll still enjoy it either way! (My mother, however, really just watched for the romance so she's extremely disappointed!)

Anyway, you can read the PBS announcement about it here

Lastly, I don't share too much about personal/family stuff here, but this was on my mind anyway, so I'll include it. My dad decided to retire from farming after 40+ years, so yesterday, we had the farm equipment auction for all his stuff. It was an interesting experience and I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. But all the tractors and such used to be stored behind my house, and I already miss seeing them out there at the shop.

But such is life. We'll adjust. And I have plenty of photos of me climbing all over tractors from over the years πŸ˜‚

Anyway, that's it for this week's summary. Wishing everyone a fantastic week ahead!
