Acronym confusion

I always have to shorten My Hero Academia to bnha (from the Japanese title "Boku no Hero Academia") because MHA in my head has always been "Murfreesboro Historical Association" 😂

It’s so funny how that works! Whenever I see people talking about POS = point of sale I always think of piece of shit 😂, especially since some really are very unobliging. Tone signifiers (is that what they’re called?) add extra confusion with even more arbitrary acronyms that are English-centric (/pos is supposed to mean “positive”?) but I try to be a little understanding because I know some people find emojis hard to understand, which is also fair. But I do think that misunderstanding /pos as the insult would be a big risk!!

You're not the first person I've heard specifically mention how confusing POS can be 😅 I don't usually encounter the "point of sale" meaning frequently enough myself, but I probably would read it as piece of shit too 😂 and I don't think I'd want to take the chance with getting /pos confused for the insult. I'll stick to my emoji 🤭

Edit: this did remind me that I had a plot bunny idea years back for some kind of shenanigans story because I saw a manga (?) called behind the scenes (?) and I thought it would be funny to have a story with as many versions of acronyms as possible. I wish I could remember more of the details (I know that Bible/Theology Studies was one of them.)
