Weekly summary: Sept. 24 - Oct. 7, 2023
Here's a double week summary because of real life things that happened and I couldn't write a summary last week. More on that at the end of this post.
But first, the fun stuff!
I'll start off with music this time.
HSJ shared their performance of Dear from the concert of the same name. It's a ballad, so I don't really care for the song. But this video is such a good example of how silly and terrible their concert outfits get sometimes. I call these the "flamingo jackets." 😂 It's so distracting to watch this nice and soothing song while seeing them wear pink fuzzy full-bodied jackets. They're so ugly!
It's been a while but Trident is finally back with a new music video! I really like Neo Future. There's nothing really exciting about it, but this group's music always makes me feel happy. As a bonus, the video has English subtitles!
And speaking of songs with "future" in the title, Garnidelia also had a new song out this week: Future Wing. Maria looks radiant as always. Toku looks silly in his frilled costume 😂 Anyway, the song isn't bad, tho not one of my favorites from them.

I actually had the chance to do some reading! And even though I'm still not finished with my Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood rewatch, I definitely went and started a deep dive on the fics. So here are a few fics that I enjoyed recently:
This one is a Royai fic centered around Riza's tattoo. Here's a lovely EdWin fic where Ed needs glasses. I really enjoyed this silly humorous fic where Ed decides to "adopt" Roy. It's a great mix of hilarious and heartfelt. And lastly, this sweet Riza-centric team fic is a nice read.
I'm still digging my way through the fandom tag, so maybe I'll have more recs next week.
I'm also trying to do a bit of writing again! It's been kind of difficult, but I started a Royai fluff piece last night that I feel really good about. And I have some other fandoms and pairings I plan to work on soon too.

Last week, I didn't get to watch much of anything, but I did discover that NHK World has a TON of their content available on YouTube for free 😯 When I still lived with my parents, I used to put that channel on the TV while I was writing. I do enjoy nice informational documentaries, and I have missed watching them since I moved. So this was a nice find for me. Currently, I've been making my way through Journeys in Japan. Travel shows are my weakness 😅
The only other thing I watched was G-witch, which I FINALLY finished yesterday! It was so good! I still can't get over it. Yes, the pacing at the end was very rushed, but I'll take it for a rare happy ending in the Gundam franchise. (Remember that my favorite Gundam series is IBO, which definitely ripped my heart out at the end.) I'm just really happy for a nice queer storyline that ended on a satisfying note.
I might have more thoughts later, but right now, my brain's too mushy for anything other than "I loved seeing everyone in the epilogue!!" 😂
I'm going to dive into G-witch fics soon and then finally write some too! I've been telling myself to finish the series first, so now I have no excuse not to.

And lastly, the irl update: I had surgery last Friday! Everything was such a whirlwind leading up to that point, and I was extremely anxious because I've never needed any sort of medical procedure done before. But it all went well (minus the anesthesia giving me extreme nausea afterwards...) and this should hopefully correct the health problem I've been having for almost two months 🤞
Anyway, now I'm in recovery mode. I took a few days off work and then worked from home for a bit too. I've been sitting on my porch a lot, which has been nice.
Today, I think I'm going to find a few of my Halloween decorations and put them up if I'm able. Wishing everyone a wonderful week ahead!
