Weekly summary: Apr. 5 - Apr. 11, 2026

Feeling better than when I wrote my last summary, but this past week was incredibly hectic 😵‍💫 Just gonna share a few links and then ramble about offline life.

Read this news article from ANN that Vampire Hunter D is getting a comic adaptation soon. Neat. Mostly this just reminds me that I want to reread the novels. Are they good? I can't remember.

I've been too busy to read fic or write fic, but that hasn't stopped my brain from giving me fic ideas. Here's a Voyager idea that popped in my head this week. I feel like a Voyager rewatch is imminent.

I did sign up for [community profile] seasonsofdrabbles this week. Signups close today if anyone else is interested in joining this round

DOLL$BOXX (a group made up of members of Gacharic Spin plus Fuki from Unlucky Morpheus) shared a song from their concert last year: Loud Twin Stars. I'm not really a fan of Fuki's live vocals but I do enjoy seeing the band back together.

In other music-adjacent news, Nakajima Yuto (formerly of hsj) announced marriage to fellow actress Araki Yuko. I don't really keep up with Yuto since he left the group, but I like Yuko, so good for them.

My Friday Five post is here.

My weekly TV reviews are here.

I've started watching Kamen Rider Agito and Kamen Rider Kabuto. I'm keeping up with it streaming on the Toei Tokusatsu World Channel on youtube, so I'm only three episodes in each so far. I like them but I'm not 100 percent hooked yet. But it's still early though. And I do enjoy seeing Mizushima Hiro in Kabuto.

Offline life...

So I figured out what was making me feel bad last weekend was some sort of sinus infection 😩 which I guess is my punishment for enjoying the outdoors on my porch so much lately. Thankfully the temperatures dropped here this past week, which cut down on the pollen, and the sinus pain cleared up by Wednesday.

The downside of cold temps, however, was that it got so cold in my house 😭 I am refusing to turn the heat back on for a third time this year, so I just dealt with it. But it was very unpleasant for a few days. Temperatures are back to being summer-like this week though.

The second half of the week was scrambling for a work project with a looming deadline. It was stressful, but I finally finished it up yesterday. One nice thing about this project, despite being last minute, was that I got to visit a strawberry farm Thursday morning. It was slightly too early for picking but I had a lot of fun chatting with the owner.

But the craziest part of the week was Thursday afternoon. Pops had an accident in his shop and had to go to the emergency room for stitches, and because I was the closest to the hospital, I was the one who went to go sit with him. (My neighbor kindly drove him to the hospital but couldn't stay. It's like 40 minutes from where we live.) Anyway, Pops is fine. It's just frustrating that he has to deal with healing up from this before he has surgery next month.

Also, an observation about our local hospital. I've never been to that emergency room before and it was incredibly baffling to walk in and... no one was there 😩 eventually I found some staff down the hall who signed me in and directed me to where Pops was. But man, that is rural American healthcare for ya 👍

Anyway, the main thing I learned from the experience is that I can watch someone get stitched up without passing out.

But to end on a positive note, I got to watch the Artemis II splashdown on Friday evening. That was really cool! (I missed the liftoff due to work, so I'm glad this worked out)

And that's it! I am really hoping for a quieter week 🤞 My brain needs a break. Wishing everyone a nice week ahead!
